Cosy restaurant with great food for a reasonable price

This is a great neighborhood restaurant with tasty sushi and cooked Japanese dishes for a reasonable price. Will definitely visit again.

I love Shiro. I’ve eaten there dozens and dozens of times over the past, I think, ten-plus years. Unlike the Seattle one that is very upscale-ish (and more expensive), the Vancouver Shiro (no relation, I don’t think) is less so, and is located in a strip mall that includes a doggy daycare as a neighbour. Awesome items that have been... More

We left a popular Indian restaurant because their arrogant attitude and a 45 minute wait made it easy to look for another place to eat, Shiro was right across the street. What a good decision that was. The staff were very welcoming and the ambiance was inviting. They prepare the sushi at a bar in the middle of the restaurants... More

Our annual Vancouver trip always contains a visit to Shiro's. It still serves excellent sushi and sashimi, comparable to restaurants around the world. The bento boxes are excellent. It does get busy, you can't make a reservation and there is limited parking. However it is well worth the wait and the tables turn around quickly.

I've been going here for several years now whenever I'm in Vancouver. The place is small, has little atmosphere, but the fish is very fresh, the selection pretty good if you arrive Tuesday through Friday, the sushi chefs are competent and the price point is excellent. It's the kind of place you go for lunch if you're hungry, and like... More

Vancouver BC - one of my favourite places in the world. One reason - multiple sushi restaurants on many blocks, many of them with high quality & great prices. You can find any type of sushi place your heart desires in Vancouver - divey, authentic, super-fancy expensive, family oriented, innovative, sustainable, etc, etc. Shiro has been around for awhile. I... More

We've been going to Shiro's for years when in Vancouver. You can't beat it for very fresh, good sushi, and good prices too. We always sit at the sushi bar, and the only disappointment this time was that it seemed we were expected to order from the waiter instead of the sushi chef. Took a little fun out of the... More

We went to this restaurant as it was close to where we were staying - it is understated from the road - indeed quite small - but it was full of people. The service was quick friendly and efficient. The standard tuna and salmon sashimi was delicious and we enjoyed the prawn tempura too. We dined with grandchildren and the... More

i had some excellent sushi rolls - the king salmon, spicy negitoro and yam roll were just excellent. the bbq eggplant needed some taste, it was a bit short on taste. the agedashi tofu was good but we got it without spice, so it was a bit bland. my wife's tempura udon was tasty. the black sesame ice cream was... First time here and went with a friend. We both had the Bento B box for lunch which was delicious. I was expecting a smaller Bento box, but this was very large and filled us up pretty good. I will be back again for sure.

Staying in Shaughnessy

Neighborhood Profile
Shaughnessy
Residential neighbourhood to the ultra-wealthy, the gorgeous manor houses centred around The Crescent area are a fabled sight to behold. Shaughnessy is Vancouver's most verdant plotted neighbourhood, and its tree-lined streets, walking routes, bike trails, and charming public parks make for an ideal location to spend and afternoon communing with nature. Consequently, it is also the botanical centre of the city, featuring conservatories and an expansive Botanical Garden, taming and sculpting the wild into seasonal viewing areas and enchanting landscapes. Quiet, elegant Shaughnessy excels at providing the Three Gs: Gardens, Golfing, and Galleries.
