Best Chinese Restaurant

The first night we stayed in Vancouver we asked our bell hop where we could go for a good Chinese meal. He suggested Shanghai Bistro. It took us about 15 minutes to walk there from our hotel. The restaurant was located upstairs from the sidewalk, the tables all had white linen. I used the chop... read more

OK, when I see Americans from Florida, Texas, Alaska etc. go goo-goo gah-gah over stuff like this, I know that I'm in trouble. Really? This is rated in the 70s out of all the Chinese restaurants in the city of Vancouver? Really? I'm sorry, but there is nothing authentic about this. No flavour, no delicacies, marginal service. High carb, high... More

I'm Chinese and have eaten in restaurants mainly in Toronto and Calgary. Surprised at the last 8 to 9 five-star Trip Advisor ratings! Serious? This is a run-of-the-mill Chinese restaurant that's a tad expensive. Average at best with average flavors and a very average menu. There is nothing unique here! Would be an injustice to other decent Chinese restaurants to... More

What a fantastic experience! Great food, nice quiet well lit place and the nicest waitress! This food has quality written all over it.Not your typical cheapo Chinese place. Though I amsure there are plenty of them here in the city. Moderately priced and well worth it. Sizzling filet and sizzling prawns were great, very tasty and the vegetable fried rice... More

When we arrived at our hotel it was rather late but I was craving for some authentic Chinese food so I asked the concierge for his recommendation. He recommended this place and I was a bit reluctant because being that I am Vietnamese, my idea of "authentic" is much different than those of the western palate. The restaurant is very... More

Visited recently table booked and seemed busy, but it was a Saturday evening. Excellent tasty food and waiter helpful as to what to order. Food tasty with good portions. This bistro specializes in sea food but we didnot take any as we do not like it, but lots more on menu. Upstairs so not suitable for all.

This is not the cheapest Chinese restaurant in town....but we love it...It is consistently good and I have to say, almost every time we have been there, we are the only non Asian people there. Our waitress just came over from Hong Kong...Everyone speaks English. We think the food is great....and the portions are huge...pretty surroundings.....nice menu......good service....and excellent food.... More

I can't speak to if this is the best Chinese in Vancouver because it is the only one I have been to but it would be very difficult to surpass. Every dish we had, we had a number of them, was simply amazing. Great depth to the flavors and high quality in the raw material. A must visit.

Shanghai Chinese Bistro (SCB) is definitely my favorite dim sum place in town. However, if you are looking for a cheap dim sum place just to grab a bite, them this is not your joint, there are way more places that would serve much cheaper dim sum than SCB. My husband introduced me to this restaurant 5 years ago when... More
