Bit of fun but not a lot of heat

Wanted a Mexican restaurant close to where we were staying and Ponchos fit the bill. Staff were attentive and gave recommendations when we asked. We had the chicken allambre and enchilada vallarta. Both very tasty but not particularly spicy.

We have been to this restaurant before, and were surprised to find it under new management. Unlike the ordinary food we expected, this food was of very high calibre in quality, taste and presentation. We had the enchiladas mole followed by the churros for dessert. The wait staff are friendly and the environment is welcoming. The chef even came out... More

If you want pre-made guacamole that you buy at Costco, then visit this place. We are here two nights ago, we were standing outside. I didn't enjoy the food at all.

Had a meal there tonight. I know it is a family run restaurant - so chose to support them, and it had been a couple of years since I was last there. We waited over 1 hour for dinner to arrive after ordering. Even then, we received one plate and then about 7 min or so later - we received... More

My husband and I ate here this past week and I was disappointed. First of all, the menu is kind of a mess. You know those menus that supply pictures for each dish but the pictures are taken by an inexperienced person with a mediocre camera and so the pictures of the food actually do the opposite of what they... Poncho's serves the real food of Mexico, not salsa-covered Tex-Mex. Portions are large. Service was prompt and courteous.

I love this spot! Every time our family gets together in Vancouver we come to Poncho's. The food is consistently delicious and the staff and owners are so kind and welcoming. We feel like we are in Mexico again and its a great little escape from the ordinary.

I had an amazing Burrito with beans, rice and of course a cerveza. The taste, the décor and music brought me back to Mexico, it was so good. When I get back to Vancouver this will be a must go to restaurant and you should try it too.

Consistent, delicious meals every time! I am a local and have been taking friends and visitors here for years and have never had a bad experience. The salads are cold, the burritos hot, the Margaritas icy and the salsa is amazing! Live music on weekends, a great place for parties and weekdays are perfect for planning a trip to Los... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
