Busy busy busy (so food must be good!)

Get your name in early as the wait during weekends and prime meal times is long! If you don't like coriander, note that every other dish is scattered with fresh coriander - I happen to love it so it's not an issue for me. The butter beef is my absolute favourite. I have never been to Cambodia, but my dining companion had. We shared a few dishes and both of us agreed that the beef dish was our favourite! He said he'd had it in Cambodia, but with less sauce, and that he actually preferred the version here better haha We also had a papaya salad that didn't carry the kick... More

Phnom Penh is one of our go-to places for a nice family lunch. You can't make a reservation unless you have 8 people so be prepared to wait. It is always busy here and for good reason. Phnom Penh offers some really delicious dishes from their Beef Luc Lac (We've traveled all over Cambodia and Phnom Penh's is one of... More

This place is always busy and you have to wait in line sometimes up to half an hour to get a table. The is fantastic. Butter beef and chicken wings are two of the most favorite dishes here and you see them on almost every table. My personal favorite is the sweet and sour chicken soup. It is said that... More

A Vietnamese, Cambodian restaurant that comes highly recommended and was worth the wait to get in. A fairly large menu that covers both traditional vietnamese and cambodian food. I would highly recommend getting an order of their wings, which are fried sweet and garlicky to high heaven. The buttered beef seemed to be one of their most well known staples... More

It took a trip to Cambodia to learn about this restaurant and it is definitely on my top five list in Vancouver. Expect a bit of a wait, be prepared for noise and immerse yourself into this wonderful gem of a restaurant. The food is to die for - I am seriously hooked on the wings - and servings are... More

I have been coming here for over 8-9 years and this restaurant never disappoint. It's always super busy and I recommend reservations or come during the week days. We ordered the shrimp sweet and sour soup. It was unbelievable. It was so good, there was not a drop of liquid in the pot. Their chicken wings was one of the... More

The chicken wings are the bomb. They got great flavor which are not over seasoned and are nice and crispy. The chicken wings comes with a little dipping sauce as well. This place is very busy the line up usually during dinner time is out the door. But the wait is usually not that long. They turn over table pretty... More

Although I've been to Chinatown numerous times throughout my 18 years of living there, I've never been to this place before my friends "forced" me to go while I visited during the Christmas break. The Location: This is in the heart of Chinatown so it could get difficult to find parking especially during the day. At night, the surrounding gets... More

Never tried Cambodian before, our cousin who lives in Vancouver recommended it, and got us lunch reservations, which was a good thing. Lots of spice, in a good way. The favours were amazing. Papaya salad, butter beef, WOW!

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
With the recent exodus of massive new building projects hitting the neighbourhood, Chinatown; which has always been one of the city's most vibrant areas; is even more buzzing and buoyant than ever before. Playing host to some of the city's best pan-Asian cuisine, from fusion food to traditional home-cooking, Chinatown has remained faithful to its roots as a space which clambers with shop signs and welcomes diners to the table. More that that, it has a hip experimental vibe to it, with trendy pop-ups and catchall market shops. The biggest of Canada's Chinatowns, it is also home to an expansive Chinese garden whose manicured grounds inspire and delight, its ponds and pagodas drawing walkers in for an stroll. Take in the red streetlights, the playful awnings, and the upbeat air that suffuse this area.
