Good Food for Meat Lovers

The food here (Cambodian and Vietnamese) was pretty flavorful. Most of the items are very meat heavy, so it's not really a good place for vegetarians. The place looks pretty popular. We got there at 5:10 pm on a Wednesday night and had to wait about 10-15 minutes for a table for 2. When we left... read more

Waited 45 min in a very crowded, mostly oriental customers, thought it must be good , how very wrong we were after a recommendation, they gave us 10 min to order and eat after waiting 45 minutes, then came the popular chicken wings , very garlicky, but very dry, and the chicken and ham dish on rice , came from a... There is a big line on Saturday nights. Get there by 4 PM or come back and hour later after leaving your name with staff. However, there is a reason for the line. I am very picky about fried squid. It is lightly breaded here, non greasy and cooked to perfection. The butter beef (raw and beautifully thin) is out... More

I managed to come here on two occasions with Team Pub, Team Block Party, and Team Tastic and we had a taste of the Beef Luc Lac, Chicken Wings, Beef soup, and the 2 Kinds Dry Noodles with Soy Sauce and Meats. Seriously, my second outing everyone but me ordered a Beef Luc Lac. Just what is going on here?... More

This place is a fairly famous place in the China Town in Vancouver. We got there at about 7:30pm on a Thursday, and there was an hour wait. The food was good, but not great (I've had better in New York City and San Francisco, among other places), and a bit expensive for the price. It wasn't really worth the... More

We saw the excellent reviews and then saw the lines waiting to get in so we thought we would try it out. We were seated (table of 5) after a 25 minute wait. We ordered the chicken wings, butter beef, garlic tempura prawns, and a spring roll. Also steamed rice for the table. All dishes were delivered as they were... More

Phnom Penh is an extremely popular Cambodian/Vietnamese/Chinese eatery right in Vancouver Chinatown with long line-ups all the times at the door. The marinated butter beef, filet beef luc lac on rice with egg, Phnom Penh deep-fried chicken wings, and Phnom Penh hot and sour soup are a must-trys. If you want to do genuine Cambodian food in Vancouver, Phnom Penh... More

Having queued for 30 mins or so, we had high expectations, which were mostly met. Our waiter barely spoke English so it was tricky to really understand everything, so we over-ordered but the food was delicious. The butter beef, the chicken wings and the calamari were all fabulous.

I get cravings for this and as far as I know this is the only place in the city to get it. Unfortunately the line ups deter me from getting it. Sometimes they can be an hour long! I love the food but not that much.

Phnom Penh was on my list of Must Try restaurants for my annual visit to Vancouver last year (July 2014). to visit family and friends. We almost backed off after seeing the line of diners waiting to be seated..But then again, there must be something really worth waiting for inside this busy, unpretentious Asian resto. So wait we did, for... More
