Nice little place with good food

Unlike getting your haircut by trainee stylists, this place is pretty good. The food was prepared well and for the price very good deal indeed. It's right at the beginning of Granville market, so if you can an an outing there after the meal.

We visit Vancouver every summer and always include Bistro 101 in our itinerary. The student chefs (under supervision) provide the ambiance, fine dining, expected at a much more expensive restaurant. Don't miss it. .

Had a really enjoyable meal here. The 3 course meal is the best value for money in Vancouver - and it was great quality ingredients and made very well. Was impressed by the delicious varied bread basket, amuse bouche and small handmade chocolates given with the bill. Was really interesting to be able to watch the training chefs cooking through... We dined here while spending a weekend in Vancouver following an Alaskan cruise. My wife found the reviews on line and we agreed we'd bring a small group of friends to try it. We were very pleasantly surprised. As a previous reviewer mentioned, some hiccups are to be expected with a staff learning the ropes. We too had minor service... More

We had a "Chopped Challenge" to start the evening off - this was excellent and a lot of fun. The food for dinner was way over seasoned with salt, some to the point it was not edible. The fish and rice was very bland with no spice used! The cheesecake was good if you still had an appetite after all... More

My wife and I had been to this restaurant a few weeks back, and found it to be unique, and justifying the general reviews that i had read. However when we returned for a family event-celebration dinner, we were disappointed, and feel that we could have had a more special occasion elsewhere, hence I regret my decision to have chosen... Bistro 101 is a training restaurant. The students at Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts learn how to run a restaurant. Therefore, you may experience little hiccups. For example, our server wasn’t very knowledgeable about wines. Also, he forgot to ask us how we wanted our steaks cooked. That’s totally understandable because they’re students and they’re learning. There is a professional... More

We dined here the first night we arrived in Vacouver and it just set the tone for what we were after with dining in Vancouver. The service was a little slow but the food that came out looked and tasted great. We took plenty of pictures of each dish and enjoyed all three courses. We each ended up choosing a... More

We live close by the restaurant, so always wanted to try it out. It was a great experience, due to the fantastic food, and friendly atmosphere. Not too formal, at the same time elegant and feels special. It is an additional feature that one can see the cooks and the chef working on the preparations. It is good to have... More

My partner and I visited twice for lunch, once full service and once a buffet. The food is prepared and served by culinary students, but we could have been in a five star restaurant with experienced and clever chefs. Everything about the two lunches was perfect, with an unbelievable price. Highly recommended!
