Accommodating Vegans!

I went to the Institution with my son and his high school Foods Class (grade 10). So we got a special tour of the premises and a lunch with an appetizer, and a dessert. We had told them ahead of time that we were vegan and so they had prepared us a very delicious vegan meal! The head instructor... read more

We first tried Bistro 101 for a regular dinner back in October 2015 because we heard and read great reviews. Well, dinner wasn't anything special and neither was the "West Coast Buffet" (February 2016). Bistro 101 only takes reservations 30 days in advance and supposedly they get booked quite quickly. Again there was great reviews about the buffet. For $35... More

I had my birthday dinner at this restaurant. The food was great and the atmosphere and decor were nice. I could see the students were working, baking, and cooking thru a see-through window. It was fun to see! One thing I really liked was that the kitchen was very clean, so it was definitely a plus for me. I had... More

Their cakes are amazing! I love their baked goods. You can see the bakers working through the windows while having dinner. And it's nice that their menu is always changing. It's never super busy so it's nice for a low key dinner with lots of conversation. Definitely worth a try!

Hidden in a corner just outside of the gate of Granville Island is Bistro 101 of the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts PICA). Lunch is a 3-course meal at $22 per person. The bread basket is superb with a variety of freshly baked rolls, breads, puff pastries and little savory muffins. There was a " mis en bouche" (pre-appetizer) which... More

We decided to dine in this culinary school when we took our car to fix in Granville Island in the morning. We went to the place and book a table for 2 and a high chair at 11:30. Everything went ok and we got our text message confirming the booking at 11:30 for 2 (may be they don't count the... More

Thank you for your review. It is important to remember that as Bistro 101 is a teaching restaurant, our students are still learning the art of front-of-house service. Keep in mind that the hospitality industry can be stressful and since our students are new to the industry, they can be nervous (especially in their front-of-house training.) I'm sure if you... This is a well hidden gem located at the beginning of Granville Island. This time, I stopped for a tea and their chocolate blueberry scone. The tea is served in a tea press and the scone was moist and delicious. They have a variety of patisserie available made by students. The cafe is runned by students. There is a small... More

Once you walk inside, your mouth will water as you browse the delectable hand-crafted pastries and desserts. There’s also savory choices from the simple sandwich to a chic entree. To be fair our meal was very well presented and nicely prepared. The short rib was very skimpy but the items in our bread basket were delightful. Our server could do with a lot more education in terms of service. Our butter dishes and bread basket were the last to be removed from our table (even after our desert dishes).... More

We went for lunch where they have a set 3 course menu. It was fabulous! I had scallops for an appetizer, duck, and then for dessert I had this wonderful lemon cake. Some might say the portions are a bit small, but plenty for me and the food was very artistically displayed on your plate. Excellent service. Try the bakery... More
