Fine dining at its Best

The server was very knowledge and helpful. He made sure to answer all our questions. The food presentation was like nothing I had every seen. The food itself was delicious, from the appetizers to the dessert. The steak tartar was outstanding!

Our first time at Le Crocodile and it was great. Very helpful and professional service. The onion tart is creamy and very tasty. The mushroon risotto was good. Hubby had the magret de canard and enjoyed it.

Very mediocre given the price point. If you are a foodie or familiar with TRUE upscale dining, this is not your place. (Especially if you expect true French restaurant. The staff admitted it was geared for the "North American market".) Obviously, this establishment is riding its successes of the past long gone by. And the past is where it is... More

Reserved well in advance, requested quiet table. Was offered a table crammed behind the service station, or in the bar area. Ended up by the door, as neither of the other choices was acceptable. Food poor to mediocre for my friends, crab cake was tasteless, one of the worst I've tried, poached lobster was so tough could barely cut it... More

Have been to Le Crocodile many times over the years. The last 2 times have been very disappointing. Service was horrible. Dined with 2 other women - one elderly with a walker. Made the reservation 2 weeks in advance. Asked for a quiet table. Upon arrival, our choices for tables were very disappointing. When we asked for a table against... More

With such great reviews, perhaps we were expecting too much. Arriving on time at 20.00, we were seated perhaps 10-15 mins later with the first server forgetting to bring us water as he had offered. Better service resumed with the order taken but nothing brought except for the water until 20.50 when the lovely amuse bouche tartelette came. The free... More

Traditional decor lends a comfortable ambiance to this fine-dining French restaurant, a long-time favourite for Vancouver's fine French cuisine lovers. The lunch menu is 'a la carte' but with a very reasonable 2-course set menu for $23. Naturally, there are delicious 'specials' and I had the warm foie gras topped with a nest of finely grated potato with tiny melon... More

When you go to Le Crocodile you feel relaxed and pampered. Here you get value for your investment! Whether it's lunch or dinner you notice the professionalism/confindence of the waiters; they feel good working there as they realize the quality of the food served is wonderful. The food is so bistro with an added flair; it's appropriate for business and... More

There were 6 of us tonight and we had quite the discussion to see if we wanted the Chef's tasting menu or order off the regular menu. Let me just say that the regular menu is very diverse but they also had 7 special appetizers and 4 additional main course items to choose from. Besides that - the chef sent... More

After a disastrous Xmas Day dinner we decided to return to an old favourite. Consistently great for what it seems like for ever, the ambience, the highly trained wait staff, and of course the attention of detail with the food is all very satisfying. If you're in the mood for la cuisine francaise, this is the place. Highly recommended.

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
