Good choice

We chose Chambar because they were one of the few restaurants in the area open after 9 on a Sunday night. But it was a great choice. We sampled a selection of small plates and all provided a nice array of flavours. The duck liver pate was delicious, as was the beet salad. The cheese plate was... read more

After our last meal at this restaurant, which we felt was amazing, we were excited to re visit Chambar. I will say that the service was as good as ever. They have a very nice selection of Belgium beers, but the food was not impressive. The salad was just o.k. we both ordered the sablefish, which is one of our... More

Great atmosphere, very attentive staff with customer service their main priority. Oh yeah, the food is pretty darn good too. Four fellows got together for a Canuck's game pre game meal. The local Chambar Ale was quite good to start off the night. Our party ordered the Bacon Mussels and Coconut/Tomato Cream Mussels. Price was $27 & $29 respectively. Large... More

I haven't been here since they moved from up the street to a larger space. I have had dinner here a few times as I love french inspired food, especially mussels! Met a business contact for lunch on a sunny Monday. Service was friendlier than I remember. My colleague had the pasta special- and the homemade bread. I chose the... More

Booked a table for a friend and I before a Canucks game. I have only had breakfast / brunch here before which was excellent. The restaurant has a very different vibe in the evening. Very lively and we were seated next to the bar which was a mix of professionals and people headed to the game. I would like to... More

I live relatively close to Chambar, and I used to walk by it most mornings when I would walk to yoga in Yaletown. I've always been curious about this place, so I was excited the opportunity arose to go check it out with someone. I took a very dear friend of mine there for his Birthday last week, and we... More

We are quite regular (several times a year since opening) customers, but the last visit had some disappointing aspects. First the bad. We reserved by phone, but had to leave a message and received the response, "we will call right back". No one did and they didn't have the reservation on arrival. Second, as a 45 year veteran of the... More

I chose to have our anniversary dinner here as my wife loves French cuisine and it been a long time since we've been back. It's much wider inside since they moved to their new location. Had great service during our time there. Our server was very nice and friendly. My wife had the Coquotte moulle frites and I had the... More

We met up with friends in town from Australia and had a lovely evening? Service and food were excellent despite the fact the restaurant is very busy. Portion sizes were sufficient and staff were willing to make recommendations. Menu not huge but there is something for everyone. Atmosphere urban casual. Wine list good - by the glass was more limited.

Staying in Gastown

Neighborhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
