First off, Trip Advisor has this restaurant mixed up with another one further down Commercial Drive. This one is in the 1300 hundred block. With that out of the way...we love this place. The atmosphere is nice and the food is good. The owner is a great person and will chat with you when things slow down. It's a family... More

We went here for breakfast as soon as they opened. Friendly helpful staff in a nice vegetarian "dive" restaurant. Nothing matches and it has a rustic feel to it. The menu is written on huge chalk boards and there is a good variety. You order at the till and then its kind of self serve from there. I had the... More

This place used to be kid friendly, but the other night I found out it only is when it suits the staff. They may have a designated play area, but the other night we went there and the event folks came to set up early (6:30pm) for an 8pm start. The place started to get really busy for the event,... The food here is always good, never amazing but solidly good. I would give it 4 stars, but the (counter) service is a bit slow.

The above address is for a restaurant called Cafe Deux Soleil. The address for the real Cafe Du Soleil is 1393 Commercial Drive. Cafe DU Soleil is also a vegetarian restaurant, small and unpretentious, but it had the best gluten free bread I ever had. I didn't even know it was gluten free--assumed it was a potato bread of some kind.... More

Last Sunday, Catie and I went to Café Deux Soleils (2096 Commercial Drive) for a nostalgic brunch. Over our time in Vancouver, and indeed, before we moved here, Café Deux Soleils has been a staple. Cheap food, tasty flavours, and fast service add up to an ideal brunching experience. Of course, we started out with smoothies. Raspberry and soy for... More

Go here if you want a real Commercial Drive experience. The food is great - the breakfast scramble is my favorite. Lots of kids during the day and fun events at night.
