so excited to find Malaysian food

I wish Malaysian food were more easily available where I live- it is so good. We ate lunch here on our Vancouver visit, and we were happy with the food. Service was friendly and the place was warm on a freezing day.

Get the 9 course meal, period. Skip the wine paring. The place is small so call ahead. It's a really nice space, not corporate at all. Food is high quality and tasty. I will come again.

Staying near Denman Street there is a lot of choice of where to eat and it. We chose the Banana Leaf on Denman St based on the tasting menu advertised on the board at the front. This is not a large restaurant by any means but neither are others in the area but it is cosy. There were no vacancies... More

There's two locations, Kits and Cambie. Both are great and both are busy. Make sure you get a reservation or get there early to get your spot. The food at BL is awesome, and try to order something spicy to mix things up.

Our party of 7 arrived without a reservation last week and were immediately greeted by the host who looked after accommodating us right away. One of our daughters, who spent over 6 years in Asia did our ordering and it was fantastic food. The service was also excellent and friendly. The restaurant may not be the most fancy, but its... It was cold, wet and windy. I needed something spicy, hot and with carbs. In London Singapore Laksa always hit the mark. So I thought I would try this place out. The Laksa had all the same ingredients as the ones I had in Malaysia, Singapore and London, but lacked the kick. Desert of sticky rice, with Gula Melaka and... More

We ordered the nine course tasting menu and it was an exciting new taste with every course. The individual servings aren't large but by the time you are finished you are stuffed. The starting salad with exotic vegetables and mango got the taste buds tingling with excitement and it just got better. The only thing we had had before were... More

It's our 1st night in Vancouver where there are 20 kinds of restaurants per block it seems. We were taken to this restaurant in Denman by a Vancouver local who had nothing but praises for this place. We were not disappointed. Started off with a yummy lychee mojito- very refreshing! Ordered the appetizer sampler ($18), nasi goreng rice, seafood curry... More

We've come here several times since discovering it. I love the fixed price tasting menu. It's such a great experience and very affordable for the quality and quantity of food. I love this place! Very nice interior, wonderful service. Can't wait to go back.

Ordered take-out as it was late and we had just arrived after a long flight. The staff were friendly and efficient. The food was great. This cozy little restaurant is situated in a nice neighborhood.

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
