I have eaten at Banana Leaf on West Broadway, Davie, Robson and Denman simply because I like spicy Asian food. I found the fixed menus a bit of a challenge because I feel the food may have been prepared hours before hand, which it is. Nevertheless, I found all these branches of Banana Leaf quite expensive and they don't like... More

We went to this place on the insistence of friends who made us walk a couple of miles just to get there. But it was worth it. I'd say the chow at Banana Leaf is better than anything I had to eat when I was in Malaysia.

We had a pleasant meal at the Banana Leaf on Denman. It was an interesting menu. When the food arrived it was tasty and the portions fairly generous. I was a little disappointed with the Sangria--too much ice and juice and not much alcohol. The service was perfunctory.

went for light dinner with my nephew. I had a lovely cumin mussels with lots of 'soup' and large piece of toast! My nephew had noodles with chicken/beef.. And caesars - never had green beans in a caesar before ! It was spicy as ordered

My wife and I were staying just off Denman. We had had a month of N American food so decided that a bit of SE Asian food would be nice after all we had lived in Singapore for 7 years. Ordered Pineapple Rice and Mee Goreng to takeaway as the restaurant was very busy. Sadly the food was not what... More

There are about 3 or 4 Banana Leaf restaurants, and the one on Denman that we went to is the smallest and not as good as the one I've gone to previously. It's great for a budget. We got the appetizer sampler that says it's for 2 people, but they were willing to let us order it for 3 people.... More

Upon arrival we were seated inside the entrance as it would be a 10 minute wait we were told. Given that this was girl's night, we asked if we could get a drink while we were waiting. Yes, this was possible and menus were given but we didn't have anyone come by while we were seated. We were seated at... More

I cannot say with certainty that all Banana Leaf restaurants in Vancouver are consistent with each other in food quality. However, this restaurant chain proves to be the "go to" place when we are longing for good, dependable, honest-to-goodness cuisine. The menu choices are varied, from sweet, to salty, to spicy -- from deep fried, to sautéed, to boiled or... More

Best Malaysian food I've had outside of south East Asia. Reasonable prices, wonderfully tastey food, great cocktails. Would definitely recommend a visit.

We found the Banana Leaf quite by accident -- we were parked on Denman St to rent bicycles and explore Stanley Park, and Banana Leaf was right across the street. We'd never had Malaysian food before, so were eager to try something new. My husband settled on the carmelized ginger basa, which was truly amazing. I had the Singapore Laksa,... More
