Excellent food

Really, really good Malaysian food with attentive professional service. The ribs and beef rendang were our favourites. The beer selection could use some work. Just a few bottled varieties on hand. It's a busy family style restaurant.

We used to be regulars at the broadway location, that is until they raised the price of crab to $60+ and we said that's enough of this foolishness. At $45 it was already a overpriced, so we would go on Thursdays when it was on special. Sorry for the rambling, back to this location. I've been there about 4-5 times... More

I have previously rated a Banana Leaf, so this review isn't so much about the food (which is nothing exceptional, but tasty enough that I return on occasion) but rather is about the service at the Banana Leaf on Denman Street. We had completed a day of moving house and we were tired and hungry and looking for quick take-out... More

We went to Banana Leaf on Robson due to both the Trip Advisor reviews and the suggestion of a new neighbor. We were delighted by the selection of lovely non-alcoholic drinks like mango slush and lemon grass ginger iced tea...they perfectly hit the spot on a hot sunny day. We shared the roti canai which was very good and a... More

Fish and vegetarian options are the best thing on this menu. Food isn't budget, but it's yummy and a welcome change from the more typical Thai or Vietnamese food that seems to over-represent south east Asia in Vancouver.

while much smaller than their other restaurants, this place is intimate and the food is the same. The best vegetarian dish would be the egg plant cooked in their special sauce. However, if I have a choice, I would go to their Broadway location, the one that is near Cambie. The clientele in my opinion is more lively, and the... More

Although quite busy, we were seated after only a short wait and enjoyed attentive service throughout the meal--the dinner tasting menu with wine pairings. The menu offered a good range of selections. The mussels in cumin sauce were a highlight. Everything was tasty and nicely paired with the wines, but only the mussels were really memorable.

We where staying in Vancouver for just 3 nights. Luckily I use tripadvisor to find restaurants. Needless to say we found this one. The food is excellent even better than we have had in Malaysia. The staff and management go out of there way to accommodate just what you need table wise. I had the scallops best I have ever... More

We visited here for dinner with anther couple. We didn't opt for the midweek tasting menu as it contained fish. We all tried a different starter and main each. I would highly recommend the beef rendang or boneless chicken! We visited after 9pm so also had great cheap happy hour drinks! 4 starters, 4 mains, 4 wines, 8beers only came... More
