Outstanding in every way

We planned to save money by coming here during DineOut Vancouver but the restaurant's popularity meant we couldn't get in until regular prices returned. No problem at all. We had the three-course prix fixe menu for $50 each: it was excellent, a creative palate of tastes and textures. Service was... read more

Another Vancouver Dine Out Festival has come and gone, and once again I was able to enjoy a bustling dinner at the Five Sails Restaurant! The Seafood Chowder, the Smoked Duck Breast and my favorite Luxe Lemon Dessert; what more could I ask for? We had a lovely female server - very charming :) Each dish was picture perfect! I... More

Five Sails was the destination of choice for my son's recent wedding celebration. We occupied the party room where the ceremony was performed with the stunning Vancouver harbour and Grouse Mountain as the backdrop. The 4 course meal was spectacular! We began with an amuse bouche of butternut squash soup and smoked salmon, both delicious. The appetizer consisted of ahi... More

I have traveled all over the world and been to thousands of the top fine dining restaurants but I always have to stop in at the Five Sails when I return to Vancouver. The food was fantastic and the selection of wine was abundance. But it was the sommelier Ramon that make the dining experience unbelievable and perfect. He was... More

We were there for the new year's eve dinner and we were kind of expecting having a gourmet dinner with great views over the city, NYE fireworks, elegant and festive atmosphere and an upscale service level. Food quality, breathtaking views over Canada Place (and the fireworks show during NYE15-16) and towards the North Vancouver were indeed fabulous. Sommelier's food-wine paring... More

I recently dined here with 3 of my friends and the meal and the service was fabulous. The food was truly delectable. We decided on the chef's tasting menu and added the scallop course... it was sublime. The tuna tartare, crab and quail were all outstanding with beautiful presentations (wish I had taken pictures) and a melt-in-your mouth texture paired... More

We had dinner in Five Sails two nights running. The ambience is lovely. Panoramic views from our window table. The staff were attentive but not intrusive. The food was delicious and presented beautifully. Expensive? Yes but we enjoyed every mouthful.

Staying in Vancouver for two weeks over Christmas in the Pan Pacific and booked in to the Five Sails for an evening meal in the run up to The big day. We were warmly welcomed , relieved of our coats and seated . Lovely location, panoramic view of the harbour even from non window seats , smart decor and smart... More

I recently dined at the 5 Sails, not my first experience there and most definitely won't be my last. In very instance my experience has been brilliant, but this most recent evening has urged me to take the time to share this gem of Vancouver with others looking for one of the city's, if not 'the' city's #1 fine dining... Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
Vancouver's business district, the Downtown area is bustling with smartly-dressed folks balancing their lattes and briefcases to and from work. The area's plethora of contemporary commercial, residential, and corporate spaces has bred a landscape of nouveau restaurants, chain cafes, and upmarket shopping options. However, located right on the waterfront of Vancouver's energetic Harbour, Downtown is a also popular public meeting spot, with a massive public library and convention center attracting a bevy of visitors both local and not, as well as a hotspot for the arts, being home to some of Vancouver's most cutting-edge galleries. With behemoth architecture and a professional air, Downtown means business.
