Lovely breakfast.

We came here a few times for breakfast while staying locally. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food was always good. The west coast being was a personal favourite! Definitely a better choice than eating in our hotel.

Great place for s quick bite or a longer intimate meal with your partner or a group of friends. Great for brunch and dinner. Menu items change with the season so be sure to ask what the current special is!

I was so sorry to see that Central Bistro has closed! The food was always great and the staff knowledgeable and it was a favourite place to stop when I was in the West end. I wish the staff best wishes in their new locations but now I have to look around the area to find a new favourite restaurant.

We stopped here for breakfast on our way to Stanley Park. Everyone enjoyed their food, the coffee was good, and the service was really great. It made for a perfect start to our first day in Vancouver.

Central Bistro has been my go-to restaurant when visiting Vancouver. I always have the shortribs ....tender and delicious.....simmered for hours in a rich sauce and served with the lightest gnocci. Delicious and well worth $26. Well at least it used to be. Sadly, the chef has decided to change the dish which is now served with roast turnip, baby carrots... More

I love the arugula salad, it's one of the best salads I've had. I have always enjoyed the burgers. Tried quite a few things on their menu. Service is friendly. Can get busy. Fun to sit at the bar sometimes too for a glass of wine. Knowledgeable staff when it comes to food and drinks. More than the norm. Sometimes... More

Stumbled upon this place after the obligatory sunset watch at English Bay. The food was great - I loved the Salt Spring Island Mussels, and my wife said the crab cake was very tasty! Beer choices were varied, and the people were super-friendly.

I had been to the Central Bistro for a business breakfast. I enjoyed the fresh food, so when we needed a quick early dinner, I decided to try Central for dinner. We arrived at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday since we had to attend a concert and had to leave at 6:45 p.m. We ordered the Vegetable Fritters as a shared... More

Looking for a 'normal' restaurant around this neighbourhood wasn't easy. The steak was perfect and the salad very tasty. The service good. We are still here so don't know what the damage is when the bill comes, but if you want a good meal you can't go wrong here.

We had just arrived in Vancouver and were seeking out lunch when we came across this atmospheric and youthful bistro. The service and our meals were excellent and the draught beer icy cold. Beautifully fresh ingredients in our lunch selections and the accompanying soup was delicious. We plan to return for dinner during our stay as we suspect the evening... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
