One sophisticated restaurant in Vancouver

Bishop's it is a very nice and cosy restaurant, a bit on the romantic side, a bit far from the center, staff are very nice, food is inventive and wine list that is more then adequate.

Bishop's defines understated. Regional and seasonal foods shape the menu, and the wine list is just superb. If you know your stuff, the "Bin Ends" offer some great deals. If you like your waiter to refer to themselves as "I'm Chad, and I'll be your server for tonight" then this is probably not the place for you. The service is... More

My first dinner in Vancouver. Always on the lookout for well prepared food, we visited Bishops, a mainstay in Kitslano in Vancouver. We were not disappointed. A sublime evening with flawlessly paired wines. I enjoyed the beef, while my wife ordered the pickerel. We left the wine pairings to the staff. The evening was a perfectly prepared and presented meal.... More

Elegant without being pretentious, Bishops is always a best choice to take guests for a guaranteed rave dining experience. The menu is not huge but always creative and excellent. One thing I like it that it is not far but out of the downtown area so parking is not a chore.

John Bishop's understated restaurant has won a steady run of accolades from foodie Vancouverites for many years. His personal unassuming manner and great sense of humor infuse his small location. The food is first class as is the service. It never fails to please.

I've dined at Bishop's for both personal and business dinners. I've always been impressed. While "best meals ever" are always a combination of the food and who you enjoy it with, I can say that the best meal I've had in Vancouver was at Bishop's with friends. Bishop's is appropriate for smaller business dinners (it is a small and intimate... More

Bishop's won the Governor Generals Award in Celebration of the Nation's Table in 2010. Of all the restaurants in Canada, I think that is quite a feat. You will not be disappointed. loved it loved it loved it loved it I see that I need to give you 500 characters or the review won't got through. I don't have 500... More

Came here for our friends' b-day dinner. Service was slow. Took a while for the waiter to come back to our table to take our orders. Same happened with refilling our water. Not sure where the raves came from but my wife and I were disappointed with the food. We will not come back.

We had reservations for two people at 7 p.m. on a Thursday evening to celebrate my friend’s birthday. This was my fifth time to this restaurant in the past few years. I enjoy coming here for special occasions due to the intimate atmosphere and it’s usually quiet enough so we can have a decent conversation. The service and food have... More

Bishop's rides on the reputation reflected in some of these reviews: "guaranteed A+ food and service;" "as good as there is. . ." Expensive, but worth it. And I have no doubt that this reputation has been well-earned. Whether it's still being earned, consistently, night by night, is perhaps another question. Our recent -- not very happy -- experience at... More
