Very good bbq, but not spectacular.

My husband got a certificate for a "feast" for 2. Included was cornbread, hushpuppies, deep fried pickles, coleslaw, beans, fries, plus pork ribs, chicken & one bbq pork sandwich. Drinks were extra. The food portion was ample & tasted fine. The only suggestion I would make here is to have... read more

Awesome addition to the West End, exactly the type of place that Denman St needs, esp. and the Robson end, away from the tourist mobs and filled with cool locals. Owners and bar staff are really friendly and seem committed to making this into a local’s bar. Excellent beer selection and reasonably priced for fantastic barbeque. At $9 for an... More

My husband and I had the Half Barbecue and it was a LOT of (delicious) food! Service was very good, the hostess was attentive and friendly. We went there on a Friday night (around 7h30pm) and there was a 20 minutes waiting.

I visited the restaurant using the feast for 2 SocialShopper coupon. It was a fair amount of food for the coupon. It was a fair sampling of the different BBQ meats they had (ribs, pulled pork sandwich, chicken) as well as a few appetizers. My only 2 points for critique would be to cut the sandwich in half since its... More

Went to Buckstop with 6 friends for a bit for Q and a few beers. The place is small but cosy so a reservation maybe a good idea if you have a party of 3/4 or more. 4 of us ordered the Full Stop platter. Out came a massive pile of meat and sides. The sides are amazing. Hush Puppies... More

We tried their Half stop barbecue so got to try a little bit of everything. It was good but I wasn't wowed. I like how it was served on wooden plater with some sauces and sides such as coleslaw. They have a good selection if drinks including one called The Buck Stops Here I quite enjoyed. The service was good.... More

Our group of five ordered the full stop BBQ platter and it was huge and delicious. We did a pretty good job of trying to finish it but another person or two would have been helpful. A little place with great atmosphere and a good beer selection. Will definitely be back!

Stopped in after having dinner at a Japanese restaurant, all four were not that hungry. Ordered some good local brew and then decided to try a few tapas, then some more and more... BBQ ribs are sensational, the Mac & Cheese, fries, and corn bread. All fabulous even though we weren't that hungry!

We had a late lunch at the bar, eating a number of small plates. The Fried Pickles were a nice touch for a hangover and the bbq pork, beef and chicken plates were some of the best I've had anywhere. Good beer choices, and not very noisy at all.

My husband and I were visiting Vancouver this weekend. On Sunday afternoon we took a stroll up Denman Street with the idea of finding somewhere for a late lunch. Buckstop looked interested so we strolled in and sat at the bar. Their beer and cocktail selection was great. They make red Sangria with lots of fruit in it - really... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
