Esoteric tastings but expensive

Four of us had the tasting menu ($50 each). Each dish had it's own flavour, but it was difficult to change anything out, everybody had to have the same things, all 5 courses so you would have to want to eat all these things (raw oysters, etc.). The portions were quite small, i.e. the sablefish... read more

We had the spring set menu for $50 each. It was 7 courses. The portion sizes were a little on the small size for the price, but every single dish was amazing. The chef created the most interesting combinations of food and everything was absolutely delicious. Cute little restaurant with a very homey feel to it. We booked weeks in... More

We heard great things about this restaurant, and were looking forward to it all the way from Australia. It was touted as being innovative, daring, creative and to its credit unaffected by the copious accolades. So whilst the food was all of these things, unfortunately the last thing we expected to be unaffected was the maitre de to our presence... More

Three of us went. Having read these reviews after enjoying my dinner last night, it appears this Resto took seriously all the complaining about small shared portions, high prices, and snooty service (see Aug 2014 reviews especially), as we experienced our evening the opposite way. The restaurant is housed in a modest space. The tables are indeed close together and... More

This place was rated so high so our expectations going in were high. Unfortunately the food did not meet our expectations. It almost felt like they were trying too hard to make something different or to mix too many ingredients together. It was overkill on some dishes with too much going on.we tried the tasting menu and I would say... More

This was our third visit to this little gem, having been here twice before all the hype. We were going to a play, so had to book at the ungodly hour of 5:30. It gave us a chance to see the room, since it had always been full on previous visits. There are only about 28-30 seats inside, at different... More

My wife and I happened by one evening without any real expectation and we were very pleasantly surprised. We had a 6 course tasting menu - the dishes ranged from good (but - wouldn't go out of my way to try them again) to some of the best food that I have had this year. The restaurant is remarkably unpretentious... More

The dishes were innovative, nicely presented but not as impressive on taste. We ordered al la carte, 8 different dishes. The only dish which impressed us both on taste and presentation was the sablefish with clams. The roasted pork belly was chewy and the black ink linguine with sea urchin was dry. Sometimes the 'complexity' of the dishes didn't work.... More

This place is ahhh-mazing! Love how they let you pick several items with small portions- it's like a create your own tasting menu. Everything we had was delicious. This is clearly run by a superb chef. They only house a few tables, so you have to make reservations months in advance. I never advocate raising prices, it's just that we... More

I so badly wanted to be wowed by this place. But it just didn't do it. Could be the seasonal winter menu, or the waitress who almost stuck her finger in each dish as she explained it. But it didn't work. The space is small. So cozy eating, open kitchen vibe. The bar list is good. The wine list is... More
