Restaurant ConceptEstablished as a second location of Aburi Brand, and recognized as the North American home of Aburi Sushi, Minami offers a combination Japanese and West Coast cuisine in a comfortable rustic space. We offer unique takes on beef, pork, poultry, and seafood dishes to enjoy with your choice of sake, wine, or specialty beverage created by our amazing bar team. From special occasions to intimate gatherings with family or friends to corporate events, we create a welcoming atmosphere with impeccable service, providing a memorable dining experience.Culinary BrandAppetizer SushiAburi Sushi is a corporate symbol of our company, enjoyed by hundreds of Vancouverites. We are excited to introduce our new Aburi Sushi appetizers, showcasing our unique style of cuisine. The combination of our original shari cooked in our own unique traditional method and flame searing technique has turned sushi into an exciting culinary experience. Enjoy our new innovative Aburi Sushi as the perfect way to start your dining experience alongside your favourite beverage. EntréeOur entrée menu places an emphasis on our beef, poultry, and seafood dishes. Our dedicated chef team prepares our entrees not only focusing on the protein, but also bringing our vegetable side dish to the next level using seasonal ingredient to complement the flavour of the meat. We insist that a great entrée be accompanied by an equally great side. Our chefs focus on flavour and compatibility for your enjoyment. Service Concept: NINGENMILike Miku, our service concept at Minami is “Ningenmi”, “Find joy in yourself by bringing pleasure to guests”This was formed by blending service concepts from two cultures: from Japan, Omotenashi and Wagokoro, (which translates to Japanese Heart), and from North America, one-on-one personal service. Each guest that enters the restaurant is treated as a guest of the entire restaurant; this means, not only will your server look after your experience, but everyone working in that room will contribute to making your dining experience a memorable one. However, while the atmosphere and service at Miku boasts a friendly, bright and lively energy, like that of a busy summer day, guests dining at Minami can expect a more relaxed, warm atmosphere with heartfelt service, like the calm of the beach at sunset.Ningenmi creates an inimitable atmosphere completely unique to Aburi Restaurants. Minami is place where you can enjoy a relaxed evening with our extensive sake selection while being captivated by a delicious meal.

Delicious

Met some friends here. Ordered quite a few dishes and all of them were amazing. Ebi oishi, salmon oishi, shrimp fritters, sablefish, nigiri sampler, baby bokchoy, Brussels sprouts, fried chicken tenders, sushi wrapped in short rib, salt and pepper tuna tataki, I may have forgotten a few. We just... read more

My wife and I recently attended Minami on recommendation from some friends. We were dying for a night out as we had a 3 week old newborn. Naturally, the baby started hollering as soon as our food arrived, and instead of us rushing out with red faces and take-out boxes, the hostess and our waitress opened up one of their... More

Minami and Miku are top sushi restaurants in the city because they consistently offer up fine cuisine and great dining experiences. My wife and I were back to Minami for the aburi sushi and the appetizers and of course, the dessert. It is all good. Recently we sat at the sushi bar and enjoyed being able to talk with the... More

Had a cold this time around so I couldn't taste everything properly, but this stays one of my favourite places to get sushi. Service was great as always and I have a full post up on my blog! ^^ https://dreaminginfoisgras.wordpress.com/2015/04/20/minami-vancouver-2/

Imagine, arriving in Vancouver and stumbling across a sushi restaurant. Who knew? Actually, My son and his wife live in Yaletown and this was their choice. Reservations are a definite must and they are easily done on the Minami website. We made ours two weeks before my arrival at the fabulous Opus Hotel, in part because it was half a... More

The sushi here was excellent, but it was complemented superbly by the rice, which had the perfect texture and flavor. Wasn't cheap, but worth the splurge.

Minami has amazing sushi in a city where sushi can be fast-food. The service is very knowledgeable and friendly and the sushi is soooo tasty. Sometimes it can verge on a bit too oily but really, no complaints. I've been here over 6 times and they are part of Vancouver Aquarium's oceanwise program. Here's my complaint- on one occasion they... More

Minami's specialty is the Aburi Sushi, Nigiri sushi that is seared by torch, but this unique hotspot also features traditional Japanese cuisine and sushi. The fish is beyond fresh, and many traditional items have interesting twists--Gom-ae made with kale instead of spinach, Aburi Sushi that has sauce on top (no soy sauce necessary), seaweed salad with other veggies included!
