Steamed buns, dim sum and more

It's a busy place and a very basic place and the food is all good. The steamed buns can sell out early but there are plenty of other choices: Dim sum - steamed dumplings, won ton, noodle and/or rice dishes, shrimp pastries, etc. - all as they should be. The food was great, the prices reasonable and... read more

Whilst exploring Chinatown we found this little shop and had lunch. So glad we did, food was really good and cheap. While this bakery mainly sells pork buns as takeaway by the hundreds, they also have a restaurant in the back half of the shop. We ordered the Chicken Chow Mein and the House Special noodle soup. Both were nice,... More

Left the Dr Sun Yat-Sen garden and decided to walk around a bit before catching bus. So glad we did. Saw New Town just a bit up Pender St. Line up looked long, but the smells were so good wafting out the door we had to check it out. Took a number and before we could even look at all... More

Stumbled across this basic-looking, unprepossessing restaurant. Struggled with ordering a fairly random selection of items (points to next table, counter and sometimes menu), and .,, wow. Dim sum - steamed dumplings, won tun, shrimp pastries - all as they should be. Huge numbers are are continuously wheeled out from the rear kitchen in giant bamboo steamers, perfectly cooked and neither... More

We were referred here, why??? There were a lot of people waiting to get in, when you first go it, it's a bakery, lots of people waiting to buy baked goods. The back portion was the restaurant. First of all the tables are so close together it's uncomfortable. Our meal was tasteless, meat was not even hot. We ordered the... More

I usually just come in for their BBQ pork buns to go but this time dined in their casual restaurant to sample some other items with a friend. There is an optional set menu where you choose an item, plus tea / coffee or soup option. I elected the condensed milk tea and it was very smooth. We shared fried... More

This is the only place that still makes some of the foods still found in my hometown in China. Items that my grandmother and mom used to make but is now lost on the younger generation. I'm not talking about chowmein or dim sum, but the pastries they serve at the counter. They also have the BEST apple tarts, which... More

This was recommended for their steamed pork buns. They have variety of buns, pastries, and dimsum available. You can even buy frozen ones and have it steamed later. Tastes were good! I have tried their pork bun, and had take away some more! They have different filipino breads / pastries as well, hopia is one notable of all. They would... More

Ever since I was about 10, my dad would take me and my siblings to China town and every time we go, we always eat at here. Its always busy and always very welcoming. The place always smells amazing and you always see trays and trays of fresh dumplings come out of the steamer! YUM! The food is always delicious... More
