Thomas Haas stands out in my mind as the best place to go for a hot chocolate and a croissant in the Van area. Firstly, Thomas Haas is no newbie...he and his family have been at the pastry business for ages. Thank goodness he ended up in Vancouver because the city is a hell of a lot better off because... After having a burger at Moderne Burger, we strolled up the block for some pastry. My wife and I shared (needed to after all the fries) a wonderful pear tart. Pleasant ambiance and good service.

Never mind the amazing chocolates, the double baked almond croissants are also something to write home about! A new batch is usually ready at 3pm. The croissants are flaky and buttery, never greasy, the taste is proof of high quality ingredients. Please, never tell me how many calories they have!

Loove the chocolates.. Mmm! Every single one of them is absolutely divine. Champagne, Earl Grey, Aztec, Raspberry, Crispy Hazelnut are my favourites. It's like eating a piece of heaven. This is also where I go to buy cakes for special occasions. The pastries are also delicious and when you want to take it with you they don't just put it... More

A busy little place and good service, been twice before and always out of the good pastries by mid afternoon - you would think they would realise to make more? Coffee is nice (good quality and pricy) the pastries are really good when they have them - good choice. Never a place to sit on a fine day, expect line... More

It is always a pleasure to pop in to Thomas Haas on Broadway, if only to enjoy the chemical formula for chocolate that apparently decorates the ceiling. Ever charmed by the latest design on the coffee foam. Usually find my way to an almond mascarpone, truffle or hazelnut praline, maybe something with raspberry in it. Both drink and sweet never... A slice of Europe in each bite! Love this busy and popular place. We were glad of a table outside to sit in as the inside is rather small and can be crowded at popular times. Each sip of the deep, dark hot chocolate and nibble on the heavenly croissant brought forth a sigh of delight. Took me right back... More

Their chocolate is always high quality and extremely flavorful. We ordered a cake here for my birthday and I have had their treats before. The passion fruit cake is so good! The place itself is also very cute and the outdoor seating is lovely on a nice day.

I cannot bake. I know this and I accept this. I can cook up a storm, but the baking gene passed me by. The problem is that I love desserts and I want to serve desserts when I entertain. As a result, I am willing to pay for amazing, pricey sweets. Quality ingredients = quality product = higher price. $30... More
