Great cocktails, a tad pretentious

This cute cocktail bar serves up some great drinks at a price you'd expect for such fine craftsmanship. The venue itself is quite tight, with an interesting medical-themed decor. While at times it does feel a touch pretentious, it hasn't stopped me from returning as the drinks are just that good.

If you don't have a plaid shirt and facial hair, you don't fit in. We were here on a Wed night. The bar was full. We'd to wait 20 min for our drinks ("there's only one bartender"). There's a DJ spinning. I didn't sample the food. Even though this establishment is in Chinatown, there's no Asian in sight.

A great little bar with an interesting exterior(hard to see it's a bar) and an even more interesting interior(dark and cool lighting) and very nice sit down bar.Kinda odd location as it appears to be there all by itself. Busy, busy place and rather small room so it is quite jammed but the staff are as good as they get, they serve... More

Ever had a dinner of dim sum with a medicinal cocktail? Found this quirky little place at one end of Chinatown, off Keefer Road. Very busy, we were seated at the bar and decided to just have our dinner there as the queue for a table was long! Probably a reservation is a good idea. It's definitely one of those... More

Enjoy a unique cocktail the Keefer's odd, dark atmosphere. You might be in a David Lynch film. Prices are high, but it's worth a visit for the experience. The drinks are STRONG. Most are doubles or triples.

Two friends and I stopped in for drinks before dinner and were amazed! The cocktails are inventive and varied. Every one we tried was delicious. The vibe in here can't be beat including the great conversation we had with the bartenders. We ordered a few snacks and they were great as well. Don't miss it!

Keefer Bar took us back to Manhattan: funky, intimate venue; sharp cocktails; chilled live music (yay alex maher); warming outdoor flame; and attentive service. A must on any Gastown cocktail/gastronomy tour (don't miss Bao Bei up the street - they're a great combo!)

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
With the recent exodus of massive new building projects hitting the neighbourhood, Chinatown; which has always been one of the city's most vibrant areas; is even more buzzing and buoyant than ever before. Playing host to some of the city's best pan-Asian cuisine, from fusion food to traditional home-cooking, Chinatown has remained faithful to its roots as a space which clambers with shop signs and welcomes diners to the table. More that that, it has a hip experimental vibe to it, with trendy pop-ups and catchall market shops. The biggest of Canada's Chinatowns, it is also home to an expansive Chinese garden whose manicured grounds inspire and delight, its ponds and pagodas drawing walkers in for an stroll. Take in the red streetlights, the playful awnings, and the upbeat air that suffuse this area.
