Beef & rice bowl

One of my fave places to snack on when in Downtown! A limited menu is good when you are just wanting lunch and don't have a lengthy menu to scroll through. Very fresh food, comes with a nice cup of tea or water. There's really not that much difference in size between the small and big... read more

I went to GyuDonYa for lunch and ordered the Kalbi Don (Grilled Beef Short rib) which is essentially supposed to be meat, vegetables or other ingredients simmered together and served over rice. although the meat was very good, their idea of vegetables is a few scraps of shredded lettuce. So the meal was essentially a lot of rice, some shredded... More

I just got back from my lunch break, which I spent at Gyudonya. I hadn't been there for a while, so I decided to visit there because I was craving the Gyumen Miso Ramen which is what I usually order. It was a mistake for me to even set foot in that place. I got there around 12:30 pm, and... More

If you want quick and straightforward Korean food in the Vancouver midtown area, especially later in the evening, then this place could work for you ... however, the quality of the food is mediocre, especially considering the incredible places located further west on Robson Street.

you know what, i don't care if this is a small shop, i don't care it is not fine dining. i just love the simple and quick dish. the beef on rice, in the simplest form, it's fast, cheap and nice. go get a miso soup and small salad with the beef bowl, that's all you need. great place for... More

Situated on the same row as Japadog. The beef on rice is the main attraction and very filling and tasty. Staffed by Japanese, service was fast and efficient. The dishes arrived quickly enough. Seating can be a bit cramped in this restaurant, with two counters and only 3 small tables but most people just eat and go so turnover is... More

After having a Japadog next door, we were still hungry and walked into Gyu Don Ya Japanese Restaurant for something a little more filling. We three each had a bowl (beef, salmon and mabo tofu). All the bowls came with miso soup and a choice of "salad" which was pickles or kim chi. The service was quick and friendly. The... More

It was a very good quick meal with decent amount of flavor. I had regular grilled chicken bowl, which was more than satisfying.

Ordered the short ribs on rice. Meat was tasty. Served with some lettuce and green onions over rice. Bone was taken out of the short rib which I enjoyed. Wish there were more vegetables but great nonetheless.

I tried this small cafe just to try something different. Prices are reasonable and the service is quick (think Japanese fast food). The menu is small but interesting, specialising in a variety of rice bowls. The problem is the food is not all that flavourful, and there is not a lot of meat in the dish. There are better options...
