egg tarts and napoleons!

enjoyed the egg tarts and napoleons although I think the napoleons could do with a bit more cream. Egg tarts could be be a little browner but nice and tasty with flaky crust

Don't bother with the restaurant upstairs unless you want to wait awhile. You need to get a number but that doesn't mean you will get seated by number. Several people arrived after we did and were seated before us. We were literally the last ones standing. I asked if they took US dollars and they did before we were seated.... More

Love the buns and they have a wide variety to choose from. I especially enjoyed the polo bun. There is also an excellent Hong Kong-style restaurant above the bakery.

I like this place, Maxim is a big name in Hong Kong, I am not sure if there is any connection. I took a walk in Chinatown in Vancouver, and passed a few places which serves this Hong Kong style bakery products, pastries and cakes. This one looks clean. I bought some sausage buns and Portuguese Egg Custard. They were... More

Watch the prices. Product is fresh. Service can be slow. Good for grabbing something on the run. Cakes are expensive. There are less expensive bakeries for good cake. The bagged or small boxed items are average. Buns are fair/average to other stores prices. Do try it on. They've been around awhile now which is kudos to them - many bakeries... More

We always stop at Maxim's for pastries. Always fresh and tasty, yum yum! The prices are cheap that each time we're there, we always look twice to verify if that's what it really is priced at. For example, most of their pastries are 3 for $1.20 or in that price range and normal serving size. No kidding. We bought 6... More

Despite being in Chinatown that is becoming a ghost town, this is one of the few decent Chinese restaurant that is like Hong Kong Cafe style...Western food mixed for Chinese people...

We ate lunch at the restaurant upstairs, which was packed. We were the only non-Chinese diners in the restaurant. The menu is in Chinese and English. The food was great and cheap. We then bought a couple of desserts in the bakery downstairs on our way out. They were delicious. We didn't try any of the non-sweet baked goods, but... More

This bakery in the heart of Chinatown had some of the best baked buns, filled with sweet or savory, I have ever tasted. The place is very clean. Staff is very efficient and friendly. Variety is incredible (including some beautifully decorated cakes). The prices were VERY low. Can't wait to go back the next time I visit Vancouver!
