Simple but awesome

Very straightforward menu but so good. The have a few sandwiches and drinks. Don't ask for substitions. Make sure you beat the lunch crowd as it seems to always have a line. Stop reading and just go there if you are in downtown vancouver.

Had a VERY good porchetta sandwich; my husband had a meatball sandwich that he clearly approved of. Great wait staff; a guy stood at the door anxious to explain the sandwiches and answer any questions. Small selection of beer and wine available; interesting assortment of unusual soft drinks.

The Pender Street location of Meat and Bread offers four daily sandwiches. I have been to Meat and Bread three times recently and tried the lamb special sandwich, the porcetta sandwich with salsa verde, and this week's vegetarian special - a sandwich with tomato boccocini, balsamic gastrique, crispy onions, arugula and basil almond pesto. All three sandwiches were excellent and... More

Meat and bread is a good place to grab a quick bite to eat. It has nice long social tables and the service is pretty rapid. In my opinion it has become a little overrated and over priced. If you haven't tried it I would highly recommend it still. They use simple quality ingredients.

The line ups for these small lunch spots look intimidating, but they move fast and the food is well worth it. Each day features a new selection of 2-3 selections that include a mouth-watering meat-based sandwich, salad option and hearty soups. Not a good first date choice (some sandwiches are messy to eat), but a great place to go with... More

The porcetta with its crispy crackling is epic! Don't be put off by the line up, it moves fast. And, there's more than one in town ...

Meat and Bread make you want to come back for more to try all their options. Worth the lunch hour lineups. Very friendly carvers and cashiers. Drinks offered a little expensive, but locally made. Worth a try at the least, then see if you want to come back - Guarantee that you will.

This place is fun and the food is great. What is really amazing is how great it smells when you walk in. Has a really upbeat feel!

We were on vacation and looking for a quick bite to eat before a tour started. As luck would have it, there was a parking spot right in front of the restaurant. We were a bit concerned about the line, but we were assured by the employee directing customers that the wait would not be more than 8 minutes! He... More

Not much of a place to sit down and socialize, but Meat and Bread has three standard sandwiches plus a special every day--all put on the same type of bun--so the construction of the sandwiches is like an assembly line. The "insides" of the sandwiches are a mixture of meat plus other items like cole slaw, a special sauce, etc.... More
