A good neighbourhood family pub

In the best pub tradition, a friendly restaurant/bar for a neighbourhood. Welcoming to families - they can provide a hot chocolate for a cold child after a day of ice skating or a cool brew after playing sports with your friends. The premises are air conditioned for a hot day. Daily food... read more

Good food for the price, but the starters I think were a bit overpriced. Had the steak and ale bites, and would for sure go back just for those! Good service as well, and friendly staff.

Dropped into this quirky neighbourhood pub for supper and I wasn't disappointed. Tried the lamb leg with savoury mint sauce and the Lamb actually tasted like lamb. I have found the lamb at more big chain restaurants is more like beef so this was a pleasant surprise. The savour mint sauce was tad too savoury but didn't ruin the meal.... More

Our family has dined at the Cheshire Cheese for some 20+ years. It's a relaxing atmosphere where the entire family can enjoy some good home-cooked traditional style pub food. A favourite has been Toad-In-The-Hole, British Bangers clothed in Yorkshire pudding and dressed with steamed vegetables, mashed potatoes and gravy. Whenever the urge or occasion came up it was an easy... More

My sister had heard about the prime rib special on Friday Nights so headed out. Very English style pub. Menu had a wide range of selections. My sister had the prime rib, mum had the bangers and mash and I had the cottage pie. Food was good and portions were generous. Atmosphere was good however being a Friday night it... More

Had breakfast here last Sunday. No wait for a table, pleasant English pub type atmosphere and the food was great. We had the British Breakfast and eggs bene. British Breakfast is 2 eggs any style, bacon, pork sausage, baked beans, grilled tomato, fried potatoes and toast for only $10. We found plenty of free street parking. If you have kids... More

Somewhat reminiscent of a typical British pub, with enough atmosphere to make any nostalgia buffs happy. The menu has British classics included with West Coast fare. There were a few delectable selections I'd like to go back and sample at a future time. Televisions are strategically placed for sports lovers - appropriately, women's 'footy' was on when we were there.... More

We have visited this Pub on a regular basis on our trips to Vancouver. Good British style pub, food is as you would expect, with a very British selection. Atmosphere and service is very good and enjoyable. There are several TV's situated in the pub and can conveniently watch a football (soccer) match if available.

Low key, warm, friendly, dated British atmosphere makes this a nice place to meet some friends for a drink. A really delicious and generous cheese plate is my favourite menu item. Great place to go after seeing a movie down the street at the Dunbar Theatre.

Fact is you can't get a true English pub anywhere else than England. Dog indoors by the fire, overweight barman with a filthy tea towel draped over his shoulder and a load of fun British banter. This place goes some way however just with the obsessive Canadian 'health & safety' mixed in. Food was adequate we had the English breakfast... More
