Compact and busy, but we only had to wait 5 minutes for a table on a cold Tuesday in January. The large, textured samosas (appetizers) were complemented by little tubs of spicy or sweet chutneys. All three mains (pulled pork, chicken, tilapia) were beautifully presented, delicious and filling. The server even brought an extra serving of rice when I was... More

Rang oil is just a block away from where we live, so we often drop in for best Indian ever. Where Vij's is more formal, Rangoli is more casual, but the food is just as flavourful, although a little less inventive than higher end Vij's. The samosas are the best I've ever tasted. I love both lamb dishes, and the... More

I love this place! I have been many times and have never been disappointed, whether I order vegetarian or meat dishes. The one fish plate - a spiced tilapia - is also very tasty. The portions are sufficient that unless you are a big eater you will be satisfied with just a main. I've never tried the desserts although they... More

Been here twice and both experiences were spot on. Both times I had the Beef Short Ribs in Kalonji Seed Curry and the dish absolutely slaps your taste buds with amazing flavour. The meat is fall-off-the-bone, melt-in-your-mouth perfection. The pickled vegetables are a nice contrasting sour to the mildly spicy dish. Naan and rice are done right.

I had never been to Vij's, heard about it and didn't know this was the casual bistro. Came here for lunch with a friend. We had the samosa, the pakora, the tamarind chicken and the pulled pork. Everything tasted amazing!! I have been to the more authetic Indian restaurants on Main and in Surrey and the price while cheaper and... More

Once again I returned to one of my favourite Indian fusion restaurants for a business lunch. I love the tea as an opener and find their menu always evolving. If the weather is fine the patio is a treat, I find the indoors a bit oppressive and have really never eaten there. actually, I have haven't eaten at the next... More

Amazing lunch spot - be prepared for a wait - well worth it! I had the best meal ever and totally unplanned - shopping nearby and tired of overpriced vegetarian. This was suggested by a clerk and we all felt like winners after lunch (we found a few good deals too). Mango lassi was a treat and truly complimented the... More

Vij's Indian meal is to die for. The Coconut Curry Lamb was delicious as was the Short Ribs. More importantly, Rangoli's is more reasonably priced than Vikram's so you get a wonderful Vij's meal for a decent price. We finished of the main course with a tasty Rice Pudding for dessert. If you want a Indian meal, you must try... More

My family and I, went to Vij's for dinner around 6pm. We were told it was a 90 min wait; but, next door was Vij's Rangoli ( more of a cafe style Indian food Restraunt with indoor and patio seating). There was no wait- and since it was rainy we decided to sit inside. We ordered the mild curry chicken... More

Staying in South Granville

Neighborhood Profile
South Granville
The neighbourhood closest to the airport, a generous mix of locals and tourists populate the area. The blend has made it a go-to spot to find an eclectic collection of entertainment, from theatres and cinemas, to antique stores and last-minute kitsch souvenir shops. It gives off a transient vibe, and is one of the more higgledy-piggledy areas in terms of what you'll find, making it a fun area to explore and map out, all while taking in the hectic atmosphere of people coming and going, while others look for the best ways to spend their last few hours in the city.
