This place would be just average in any mid size North American city. But in Vancouver, a city filled with great restaurants, i would rank it sub ok. Food is rather bland, quantities small, service pleasant but perfunctory. And prices high.

Just had a quiet dinner at the Salam Bombay in on Burrard St in Vancouver. Just walked in without a booking - no problems. Service was very friendly and professional. The food was authentic and very tasty. The level of spice was made to request without reducing the flavour and the masala chai tea was a great finish to a... More

The advertising board outside the door promotes the restaurant as offering contemporary indian cuisine, and the chef keeps the promise. You can have the traditional plates however a bit revisited with good results. I brought here a friend who was a novice of this cuisine, and he was very satisfied. We had a medium spicy menu including my favorite tandoori... More

The reviews on TA were good, so we thought we would give indian cuisine another go, having had fairly indifferent experiences when in Montreal and Toronto a few years ago. The menu was wide ranging, so we had papadoms with samosa and onion bhaji as starters. All good, albeit the onion bhaji were quite different to those served in the... More

We have our favorite restaurants when visiting Vancouver and this is one of them. It's not far from the Wedgewood hotel where we like to stay - only a block off of from Robson street. The restaurant is on the second floor and if you get a table near the window it provides great people watching from above the street.... More

Little pricey (but so is everything else in Vancouver) but really good selection of items on the buffet prepared very well. Great view, too

I had the most expensive meal in this restaurant on my recent visit in Vancouver. The food was very good but not incredible but I have to say I don't like high-end indian restaurant food and prefer more home cooking options. If you like indian food is a good option but a more continental like flavour. But very good nevertheless.

We were in Vancouver and feeling the need for some quality Indian food. I had seen Salam Bombay mentioned and it was nearby so it passed the initial selection test. We didn't realize that it was on the 2nd story ( there was an elevator if required) so that was neat. The restaurant was quite attractive and inviting. We had... More

Attentive service and fabulous food. Wine selection will shock you--better than most upscale restaurants. Food was tasty, non spicy and authentic for our young boys. Food was perfectly spiced and delicious for us. Lamb, chicken, chick peas and saag was delectable. Seafood passable. I would rate this one of the better places in North America. Did not have the commercial,... More

Salam Bombay is located upstairs across the street from the back of the Fairmont Vancouver Hotel downtown, on the corner of Burrard and Alberny st. Calm modern decor, full bar, no need to dress up. We ordered the Chef's special which included multiple courses, appetizer and dessert. We specified spicy. Every single dish was sublime, no kidding. The service is... More
