I have been a regular at Samurai for over 12 years and it remains the best take-out value for sushi in Vancouver. Tip # 1: phone ahead to order; otherwise, you will end up waiting in line - especially at meal hours - in a rather restricted space. Even a 20-minute lead makes a huge difference. Tip # 2: if... My favorite go to sushi takeout restaurant! Sure, the service leaves something to be desired but their sushi more than makes up for it. My husband and I always order the Maki Combo B....offers a little of everything and super huge portion size.

Ordered take out 4 times recently. Huge portions and good. We ordered bento box dinners, sushi orders on the side, udon soup for my husband one time. Tempura was good, huge alaska rolls, was too full to finish. Picked up one order on a sunny Saturday afternoon off hours and the place was packed. Would highly recommend this place.

We kind of flipped our when we say the size of each piece of sashimi that this place serves (think: fillet!). We went for an early lunch and fish was incredibly fresh. We also ordered rolls, and they, too, were massive. And it's not just a ton of rice, as some other sushi places serve, it's massive pieces of fish,... More

I live in the neighbourhood and go there often. Food is great, plentiful, and the price is better than almost anywhere. There is often a line-up of Japanese patrons outside, which should tell you a lot. The interior is small and crowded, which is PART of the reason for a line-up. I prefer to buy it there but bring it... More

The quality of sushi here is average to good at best. The service has much to be desired, but I generally just get something to go as there is no real sit-down space most of the time. Prices are decent and it's very close to oakridge skytrain.. Just beware, there is no Debit machine so bring cash!

This restaurant serves Sushi with a large roll of anger behind its cash register. I wanted to replace the Tuna Sashimi with Salmon, which is a small request. I have no problem paying extra for it; just give me what I want. The woman cashier frowned and angrily went into a well prepared speech (heavy Chines accent): "you can not... More

The Samarai Sushi House is a little storefront along the restaurant rows of Davie St. It was recommended by a local and lived up to its reputation for massive fish portions and modest prices. Five visits in May 2012 were uniformly terrific. Best Chirashi I've had this side of the Toyko fish market - a sampling of many slabs of... More

The quality is average, but the rolls are enormous, and so is the sashimi, feels like Super Mario Bros. 3 World 4 sized portions. And the price is a bit below average too!

The food was authentic Japanese food, prices were cheap, quality was amazing and portion sizes were huge. The inside was a little rough looking - but the food more than made up for it.
