Pit stop

Good place for a pit stop, coffee and magic cake really hit the spot. There's much more to choose of course, a specials board, teas, and more cake.

Seldom do I find an espresso shop in Vancouver with such authentic way of preparing a perfect espresso. Service persons made us feel at home and there to be served as patrons and not just another customer queueing in a popular coffee shop which sells coffee-flavoured beverages. Keep it up!

On holiday from the antipodes and searching for more than the drip or capsule coffee which seems so popular here. Spotted this place en route to the sky train and picked up a coffee to go. From then on, I also made sure to allow time to stop here even detouring a bit on some occasions. Fantastic staff who remember... More

The Caffè Americano is excellent. The baked goods are meh - seriously, why do hipsters need to overbake everything? Is there some kind of 'before it was cool' virtue in an unpleasant muffin? The service is good. It's usually too busy to find a place to sit (especially on a Saturday morning), but there is seating outside on the Drive,... More

This place is awesome and although I'm rarely on The Drive Prado is also somewhere I will hit if I'm in the area. The space is light and there is plenty of seating and they now also have a parklet outside for those sunny days. Service is always friendly and fast and the coffee is always spot on. They also... Best "Crema" outside of a coffee shop in Rome I used to hang out at! Eclectic choice of music on vinyl and interesting people watching! Local coffee shop worth dropping by! Could use some art on the walls; it is a bit "stark"!

It's got clean decor, large windows which is great for those gloomy Vancouver days, interesting looking guests, staff ask you how you wAnt your coffee, it's fresh and served with a friendly smile. If you're on the drive, pop in, but would not go out of my way to come back.

I prefer to order and sit outside to on the grey bench outside where a local comic was interviewed recently by CBC for one of their specials on being single. Awesome coffee, helpful and unpretentious staff and again their lattes are to die for :)

Staying in Commercial Drive

Neighborhood Profile
Commercial Drive
Commercial Drive, also called "The Drive," comprises of twelve sauntering blocks of modest and unfussy counter-culture. Straddling the line between sophisticated and unadorned, it is favoured by students, artists, writers, designers, and start-ups, and suffused throughout with a healthy off-beat counter-culture. The kind of neighbourhood which well-springs thought-revolutions and has the odd bit of self-aware graffiti, Commercial Drive has resisted gentrification in favor of continuing to build a thriving den of affordable multiculturalism. Once known as Vancouver's "Little Italy," it has also been the immigration point for Guatemalans, Hondurans, and Portuguese to the city. The resulting hodgepodge makes for poetry readings in espresso cafes, social debates in early-open bakeries, and eco-activism posters pinned up in the many multi-ethnic markets in the area. Commercial Drive is where you go to feel like a local, and if you have them, bring the kids – The Drive has a number of bookshops, toy stores, and attractions to get them involved too.
