Great Lunch Spot!

A lovely little restaurant right by the Ferry terminal. The menu is simple but full of delicious choices. This is a great place to stop and have a bite either before discovering what the island has to offer in terms of scenery, wineries, farms and shops, or just before leaving to get back on the ferry. Though the wine list leaves something to be desired, the South American twist on some of the dishes is a welcome surprise,... More

A super relaxed little gem of a place. There was a great choice for vegetarians and the burger was amazing. A lovely view of the boats coming and going. I'll eat here again while on Salt Spring.

Loved the setting, the views, casual atmosphere, friendly service, excellent menu, and terrifficly fresh, creative food! Not a fast-food place, but the café part of it has yummy things to take on the ferry, for picnics or wherever.

July 25 at 6 pm my wife and I were delighted with our water front table at the Rock Salt Cafe. Carla was an exceptional server: attentive, casual, friendly and clearly loved her job. We had a soup bowl she recommended and it was as good as she said. I also had an extra crispy side of fries and they... More

Well we certainly weren't expecting the taste and quality of the food we taste when we entered the restaurant, just nicely on shore from the ferry. Looked just so relaxed and casual. Boy we were in for a culinary surprise. We both had burgers..me the vegetarians and my husband the lamb burger. I must say they were the most delicious... More

Rock Salt has very tasty food for a reasonable price. We went there for lunch and dinner. The local mussels I had for lunch were so plump, delicious and filling. Some of the restaurants on Salt Spring Island over change for food that is not very good, for example, over $20 for fish in chips.

So was thinking of a place for dinner on SSI ... and chose to head south ... to a small restaurant I saw when I got off the ferry. The place was hopping when we arrived and it only took 5 min to get a table. The menue was varied enough with good selection of beves ... including the local... More

Wow, I was invited to Rock Salt as a captive audience, having missed the ferry by 6 cars. I sat down with some co-workers and was greeted with a warm smile by Janine. She suggested a few menu items for us, which were perfect. Then she whipped up some drinks that were by far, the best we had enjoyed all... More

We had an OK lunch. The best parts: we had a table right by the window overlooking the water, and the ferry landing area has some cute quick browsing (notably, a cafe/bookstore and a market with a varied, interesting selection).
