Where to eat on Salt Spring! Al's Gourmet Falafel and Fries is Salt Spring's gourmet mobile food cart. We are open every Saturday Market in Centennial Park in the heart of Ganges, as well as Monday to Friday at 151 Rainbow Road, 11am - 4pm. Al's started in 2011 and quickly became an island institution, famous for their fresh, home made and cooked to order falafels (pita or salad) with tahini sauce and marinated eggplant and fresh cut potato or yam fries. Or try our real Poutine, just the way you'd get it in Quebec! With generous portions and service with a smile it is clear to see why the Salt Spring locals love our food. We hope you will too! Al

Falafel at the market

I had read the reviews so when I saw Al's Falafel at the SSI Saturday market, I knew it would be good. Had the falafel wrap and it was great. Very fresh, probably the best falafel I've had in years!

The food is fresh the menu has great choices and it's an excellent value for money. I work at the Saturday market and eat at Al's most weekends. I have always loved the food and service.

Looked for something to eat at the Salt Spring Island Fall Fair yesterday. Saw Al's, stand out, trailer and read the menu. Ordered the Poutine. If you've never had Poutine (Chips or if you're from the States French fries) you need to taste an excellent example of this simple dish. It's fun food and it's Al Fresco at Al's.

If you see his funky food car in Ganges, you definitely have to stop and get yourself Al's Gourmet Falafel. It was so good and filling. It is truly a gourmet falafel.

I have found that Al's cat makes the best falafels. Slightly pricey for cart food. Should offer discount on a combo.

This is a great stand to have a filling snack while at the Saturday Market! not too spicy. I love the little condiments that are served with the falafel!!

My husband and I both ordered the veggie pita wrap and loved them (and my husband is usually a meat lover so that says alot)! Al was away but the lady working still gave us the $1 discount after I mentioned I saw that on trip advisor beforehand. She was really friendly and took out the ingredients we didn't want... More

The flavors are okay. The falafel is nothing special. I like falafel and Al's does not stand out among what I've had. Portion sizes are more of what I would expect at a tasting event. Hummus was the same. It was okay and the portion size was small. He does do something wonderful with eggplant. Al seems to get plenty... More

This food cart is a little tucked out of the way but worth a short walk/drive up the road to get a delicious lunch. He has falafel wraps, falafel with salad, fries, yam fries and chipotle mayo (I think that's it). We work in town so have tried every lunch place there is and the falafel wrap is my current... More
