Barb's is a combo of coffee shop/bakery and a light table service café/bistro. Open beam construction results in a large room with a fireplace centrally located. Coffee and baked goods are well done and reasonably priced. The table service section is sparse but a popular lunch spot for locals. The chowder is always excellent and the selection of grilled cheese... More

This is great place for breakfast or lunch in Ganges. You can have table service in the bistro with a selection of wholesome dishes or get coffee and a pastry in the bakery.

The food and service can be inconsistent, but when it's good, it's really good. And though inconsistent, it is never bad. If you want to experience Salt Spring, get a feel for the community vib, come to Barb's for breakfast or lunch. They have a consistently good salad, fresh local produce and home made dressing--wonderful. Before you leave, try the... More

I reviewed Barb's once before and indicated that the though the food is very good and reasonably priced, service can vary from very good to indifferent. Recently, I had a problem with a loaf of bread that I bought and took home, to find it was not 100% for us. I think someone forgot to transfer it to the day... More

Wonderful breakfasts and lunches. Love the fresh-squeezed juices! It can get crowded, so it's best to avoid the noon-to-one hour.

We enjoy visiting Barb's Bakery for coffee and baked goodies. Fun atmosphere, tasty baking and nice restaurant. The bakery is centrally located in Ganges and is close to all shops and Saturday market.

This is where everybody meets from early in the morning and all day. The breads and other baked goodies are fantastic. The meals are hearty. Good deck space and a happy relationship with the ever so patient waiting dogs.

We went around much if Ganges centre looking for lunch and after much searching fell on Barbs. Great find as we all had the clam chowder which was really good value with great bread on the side. Looked like there were other great goods on offer but we were only there for a short time.

This is where you will find the Salt Spring locals meeting for a coffee or a casual lunch or breakfast. Consistently good food, Barb's always delivers excellent fresh baked goods (try the Ginger Twist or the Jalepeno Croissant) and the best Veggie Burger on the island. For those with colon issues, try the Bran Muffin-you'll be glad you did. Unpretentious... More

Barb's is something of a local legend. Excellent bakery and a diner attached. We've eaten here several times, and the food is always consistent. Great seafood chowder and excellent sandwiches. Good coffee. Service can be a bit slow and amateurish, but they seem to try hard.
