Home cooking at its best. Great salads, even better clam chowder. Great beers and lots of action. Service is attentive and helpful even when it's really busy. It has a pleasing decor which is smart funky.

If your on Salt Spring and thinking of going for lunch go where the locals go and that would be Barbs. Year round Barbs is packed go at 11:15 or 1:30 and miss the crowds.

We stopped by on a couple of days for coffee and muffins. Another day we had soup which was very good. A nice place to sit outside and watch the world go by served by a very friendly waitress.

We stopped by for a late breakfast. I agree with a previous reviewer that the coffee was very bitter. The buns were excellent, but other than that nothing special. The server wasn't very friendly and, service was very slow and more expensive than other comparable places. I preferred the other bake shops in town.

Didn't have a meal there but stopped for a coffee and pastry. It is well known and respected in the community. Fantastic bakery section. Good sandwiches. A must stop for a light meal.

Lots of choices for quick or full breakfast & food was delicious. Very friendly staff. Obviously very popular with the locals as very busy. Scrumptious looking bakery goods. Inside & outside seating.

Didn't try the baked goods because I don't eat gluten. The coffee is bitter and terrible. The juices are okay but really nothing outstanding. Salt Spring is a beautiful island but as far as food choices goes, it sucks.

Best grilled cheese we've had. The grilled cheese with ham is especially delicious (nice thick ham steak). The bread is baked at the bakery in house and the apple slaw is very tasty as well.
