There are better places!

Unless all the other places are full, don't bother with Oystercatcher! The food is alright, but very ordinary and not very creative. It's overpriced for what it is. Nice location, though, if you just want something quick, or you want to sit out on their lovely deck in the summer months. Most of... read more

I enjoy the Island Oysters with fresh cut fries and coleslaw, along with a Granville Island Hefeweizen Beer. The Oysters were very flavourful with strong oyster taste. Very good. Beer was light with a hint of citrus, also enjoyable. Service was great. Very busy place. Nice view of the harbour boats and costal sea planes. Large waterfront deck.

So, off season on a gulf island, THE Gulf Island & we had a great meal & the service was different, but it worked. Someone didn't show up so Rowan filled in at the bar and then Billy Jack came back from his food deliveries and helped on the service end. End result, great service and the kitchen was right... Four of us went there on a Sunday for lunch, our first visit. We ordered lamb burger, fish chowder, and oyster options. It was all excellent, and the delightful ocean view was a bonus. The service was provided by an attractive young woman who knew exactly what to say and do to enhance the visit.

My family and I visited Salt Spring this weekend and planned to dine at the Oystercatcher specifically for the oysters. We made a reservation and when we ordered oysters to start they informed us that they were sold out. I was incredibly dissapointed as the restaraunt is named 'The Oystercatcher'. It seemed they were short staffed as there was only... More

It has a great view, but that's all. Food is bland and service terrible. This is the second visit, so I scoffed off the summer visit, but, Feb 2015's food was terrible.

Wonderful clean and well decorated place. Excellent service and the food was great. Food was local and arrived hot and fresh. The waiter took the time to explain what farms the foods came from and the tase was wonderful

I understand that later at night this is often one of very few options available to tourists in the off season. I spoke to a few locals after eating here and the local opinion of this place is that it isn't very good. The view is beautiful, and the menu SOUNDS good. Upon arriving (5PM) we waited just a couple... More

The chef was very willing to accommodate a special request and the bartender/waiter was fantastic. The yam fries were the best I've ever had. The only downside is the price of wine.

I decided to try it anyway. The view of the harbor was lovely. Before my very expensive lunch (fish tacos) arrived, I asked to have it made to go. The day was sunny and surprisingly pleasant for late November, but the place was still completely empty inside and outside. I ate my tacos in a nearby park and they were... More
