not what it used to be

Smiles was a "must do" whenever we went to Rupert for the best fish n chips but lately its been a bit off. Not sure if its a one off but the old décor and booth seating is/was part of the charm but only with good food. Hope it improves

Had a seafood platter which was quite good. Fast, friendly service. Easy to find. Great view of the harbour.

I get that this a mom and pop shop, and I want to support local business and be a nice person and all of that.... but the food was greasy... .... the restaurant was dirty.... ...and I regretted going there and won't again.

Right by the ocean but no windows! Good service. Great halibut and chips. But would rather have a view

Food was priced ok. Customer Service was adequate. Food came from kitchen quick enough. Nothing stands out, 'standard fare, standard service, standard atmosphere'.

The seafood platter special was not special , no fish in the batter , 3 tiny bay scallops and 3 good shrimp . .....The shrimp chicken stir fry was good . The restroom was dirty and " plugged " . The waitress tried to be helpful but the praise she had for The seafood being all west coast was not... More

LARGE portions, would prefer smaller but higher quality. Lots deep fried, so not so healthy. The hostess seemed put upon by our presence, we didn't feel welcome or relaxed. Not a good way to be at the start of the season. The service was efficient, though we got fries instead of rice which we asked for (must be our accent).... More

Wife decided to give smiles a chance, as we had a very unsatisfactory experience last time we dined there. Big mistake, nothing of the original smiles experience remains. We were not aware that smiles is now .an "ethnic" themed restaurant. Greasy, overpriced, everything dosed up with fish sauce-yuk. We will never go back-ever. "Food" made us physically sick, could not flush fish funk from... More

Very quaint little restaurant with awesome seafood. We ended up walking around cow bay on our day off. Found this little gem. Didn't look like much from the outside but the food was incredible. I had the shrimp house sandwich and it was all I could do to get my mouth around it. Will be back.
