Home style diner food, could benefit from an update

LARGE portions, would prefer smaller but higher quality. Lots deep fried, so not so healthy. The hostess seemed put upon by our presence, we didn't feel welcome or relaxed. Not a good way to be at the start of the season. The service was efficient, though we got fries instead of rice which we asked... read more

Wife decided to give smiles a chance, as we had a very unsatisfactory experience last time we dined there. Big mistake, nothing of the original smiles experience remains. We were not aware that smiles is now .an "ethnic" themed restaurant. Greasy, overpriced, everything dosed up with fish sauce-yuk. We will never go back-ever. "Food" made us physically sick, could not flush fish funk from... More

Very quaint little restaurant with awesome seafood. We ended up walking around cow bay on our day off. Found this little gem. Didn't look like much from the outside but the food was incredible. I had the shrimp house sandwich and it was all I could do to get my mouth around it. Will be back.

Fascinating old place with a great history, named for the famous smile of a former owner. The old photos and cramped (but very clean!) lavatories lend historic ambience. The two seafood plates we tried were both excellent and promptly served. WIne and beer choices are a little limited but adequate. One minor gripe; I do not like seeing the servers... More

The surroundings are not great ( a bit grubby) but the food is good, especially the Bread Pudding which was terrific! It's reasonably priced and the service was friendly

Food was ok but everything is deep fried. Quality was just ok, had an upset stomach after. Restaurant has been in PR for ever and is not as good as was 10 years ago.

It's a busy restaurant but we'll worth the wait. The food was terrific. I recommend going for a beer at Breakers next door to wait for the crowd. The prices are a little high but the food was worth it.
