Inventive menu, small cafe

We enjoyed our visit to Prince Rupert, finishing with dinner at Cow Bay Cafe. Inventive bistro menu, family owned. Nice little wine list and menu. We each had local salmon prepared a different way. Dinner with my sweetie; our second here, after a 2-year hiatus. Just fabulous! Scallop appetizer was so good we ordered another. We both had meat entrees (tenderloin & lamb) because we've been catching and eating our own seafood for weeks. Both were excellent. The service (Jess is a jewel) was friendly and prompt. Good wine on a short list, too.

Right on the water this small restaurant has so much potential. The menu is very big and seems to have many good options . We had to wait a long time to order however, even though there were only two other tables both of which had finished eating. The waitress was friendly but seemed to lack experience in prioritizing. Washing... More

We had one of the best meals we had there in ages last week. It seems that they are really hitting their stride there. After the re-opening it was hard to not expect what the previous owner did but they are working hard to provide an Italian experience that is not the typical Canadian Italian fair. Try it now if... After three excellent meals at this restaurant over the last two months I am inspired to write my first ever Trip Advisor review. On each visit we tried one of the multiple features including the miso halibut, lamb shank and clam pappardelle that was loaded with prawns, scallops and yes clams. Great wine list as well. In addition to the... More

I came by myself while my husband was out fishing for the day. I was treated to a window seat and the service was great,. I had a glass of their house Chardonnay and the seafood chowder which came with crostini and a green salad. The broth was delicious. The only complaint I have is that prawns and salmon in the... Great scenery. CustomerService was friendly but it took 45 mins to get our food on a lunch hour due to the limits of the kitchen to prepare menu items. High priced for the inconvenience. Food was reasonably good but the restaurant did not live up to my expectations of it considering it did receive a local award as a favourite... More

My husband and I both had the steak with risotto but opted for different complimenting sauces. The steak was top quality and seared perfectly to melt in our mouths, and garnished with the best choice of vegetables. Great service, and with a more than decent selection of wine, it was easily one of the top fine dining experiences we've had... More

We went for a birthday dinner for a family member. Worst service ever! The regular waitress was unfortunately not on duty while we were there. Our server had to be asked several times just for water. Appys arrived with no plates to eat them on........

Hi Paul I am sorry to see that your experience with us on this particular evening was less than expected. I would like to give you a bit of background on the evening in the hopes you can understand why your service was rated poor. Prior to your reservation one of our more experienced servers called in sick at the... More
