First time here, was thinking Mexican and punched up reviews, Gina's or Baby Salsa, BS had an extra star so went there. Small cafe in a shopping centre with a nice Mexican theme. Service was good and the owner looked after us. Explained a few things and as we chose she brought us salsa and warmed, large, tasty chips....chips nice... More

Took twenty minutes to get my food to my table even though I could see it ready to go out, rice undercooked, and hard as rock, nachos soggy (with hardened cheese on top) and to boot there was a hair in my (cold) food, as well the staff were to busy socializing with each other to notice me whenever I... Baby Salsa is a little unassuming Mexican Restaurant at University Village Shopping Centre. Mexican decor and friendly staff greeted us as we settled in for lunch on a hot weekday afternoon. The tables were occupied, and patrons looked content. I have been spoiled by being raised by a Mexican nanny who made us fresh tortillas for breakfast and often brought... More

Service was poor, it was full and we wonder why? Must be a social watering hole, price of food not worth the portions at all, food was not what we expected.

First time trying this restaurant that has been in my list for awhile. I was quite impressed. Service was excellent. Sever went over the menu with us explaining items and suggesting popular items. We chose the nachos to share. Portion size was excellent, nacho chips were delicious and the taste was great. Complementary chips and salsa was a nice touch.... More

It is obvious from all the reviews that the battle is on in Nanaimo as to who has the best Mexican food. It's Monday evening and we're reading up on both Gina's and Baby Salsa. No definitive winner. Go to the front desk at our hotel. Two locals there. Each place gets a vote. What to do? We picked Baby... More

I'm not sure why "Gina's" gets the hype, because I think Baby Salsa's is MUCH better! Maybe Gina's has the better atmosphere - Baby Salsa is a bit more "cafe-ish"... (still has some A/C tables inside, as well as some nice tables outside though) But the food at Baby Salsa's was much more enjoyable! The Quesadillas at Gina's are just... More

I had heard from someone at work that Baby Salsa was good so I wanted to give it a try. My friend and I went for lunch and only half an hour before we needed to leave for a meeting. We got the last table, but were still paying our bill 25 minutes after sitting down. The salsa was excellent... More

What can I say about this place. They never cease to disappoint. We went in to eat at 20 min before closing and was not allowed to order anything on the menu that they could not throw together in 30 sec. Just a point baby salsa if you don't close till 9 you still have to serve till 9 not... More

We probably should have made reservations but were able to sit at the bar while waiting and place our order - which was delivered to the table shortly after we moved there. Very busy for a Sunday night in Nanaimo. The food was very good and the portions were about average size.
