I came in on Saturday night to enjoy some Greek food, from where I had been told was a great restaurant. My server was a very polite young lady who was very attentive and paid attention to detail. However, while I was waiting for my mousakka, I was startled to observe the owner yelling at the young lady who was... More

Over the course of a multi day stay we had the chance to sample a number of restaurants in Nanaimo. Asteras has become our favourite. The decor reminds us of our holiday in Greece. Our meal was wonderful. The roast lamb was fall off the bone tender, the lemon roast potatoes were delicious and the greek salad was terrific. The... More

We use to love this place and frequently made the trip down from Courtenay for lunch. It seems that this place has new owners and the food is now mediocre at best! Roast lamb seemed to lack the proper spices and only one half of a roasted potato! Will stick with Yiamas in Courtenay from now on.

We stopped in Nanaimo on our way up and back from Bellingham to Desolation Sound. Last year we had an excellent experience at this restaurant with Peter as our server. This year it was the lovely Ruby who made us feel at home, and was so sweet with our 4 year old boy (yes, the one in camoflage). We were... More

My wife and I decided to go to Asteras for our Anniversary dinner. We made reservations and we were looking forward to a nice dinner for 2. Upon arrival, we noticed that the place was fairly busy, which is a good sign. We were seated and that is when the "wait" started. We waited for approximately 10 to 15 minutes... More

The food is always amazing and the service is impeccable every time I have been. My only draw back is that when it's busy it is hard to have conversations as the noise level is quite loud. Other than that it is a wonderful expirence.

Asteras never disappoints. The food continues to be excellent and well prepared. The staff also adjusted our seating easily when it discovered that we had more people than we had reserved for. Its setting in Nanaimo's old town is also a delight.

Everything we have ordered has been excellent, have gone with groups of 10,6,4 and 2 and everyone had positive things to say about the food and service. The platters are excellent food and value.I have been to this restaurant at least 6 times.

The food was wonderful. My daughter and her boyfriend shared the No. 1 platter which was full of delicious samples of roast lamb, moussaka, spanakopita, dolmades, calarmari, greek sale, vegetables, tzatziki and fresh warm pita bread. I had the grilled halibut entree. The cost for everything was very reasonable. The service was top-notch. The staff never left us without water... More
