Several years ago, when my husband and I went to Harrison for the first time with his parents, we really enjoyed our evening at the Black Forest. His mom is German and felt like she had gone home. It was a great night. When my husband and I went again for our seventh anniversary, we decided one of our first... More

Warm and welcoming interior - the staff are all super friendly and busy. The beer was good, the bratwurst was excellent, and the schnitzel was as it should be. The patio looked good too - for warmer weather.

We like this restaurant and eat there when we are in Harrison Hot Springs. We drive a long way to get there so always check if they are open and the hours. There web site says they are open 7 days per week and the signs on the restaurant say they are open 7 days a week during construction. The... More

Although I prefer the German restaurant in New Westminster, and its prices are a bit better ($2-4 less per plate overall), this was a great meal in a nice atmosphere, with outstanding, fast service.

Had a good hearty meal here on a Wed night. I had the schnitzel cordon blue champignon and my husband had the schnitzel Madagascar. Both were very tasty with huge portions. In retrospect I would have split a schnitzel and an appy. On Wed, the schnitzels are priced from $13.95 (about $10 off reg price). Wine and beer were on... More

We've eaten at the Black Forest numerous times over the years and this latest meal was the best ever. There were eleven of us this time and the verdict was unanimous - a great meal. Various schnitzels were ordered (I opted for the Vienna schnitzel and it was fantastic) and along with them came red cabbage, roasted potatoes and/or spätzle.... More

We made reservations but they probably weren't needed on a Wednesday night. But, as we found out, Wednesday night was the best time to go since there were Wednesday night specials. My wife and I both had different kinds of schnitzel and they were both excellent. It also helped that German beer was on tap (and at a special price... More

The food is consistently good and the service is always friendly. They have a wide range of dishes. If you want the pork hock, which is slow cooked for around 24 hours, you should reserve one. In the past in busy times they would run out.

Four of us ate dinner at the Black Forest and all had different types so schnitzel. Each were delicious and the portions were gigantic! The apple streudel we had for desert was the best we've ever tasted and the wine and beer prices were surprisingly reasonable. Our server was very knowledgable about the menu and offered us excellent ordering advise.... More

Great schnitzel and other german classics in a beautiful setting. I also loved the draft german beers, especially the dark.
