Description: Artisan Resto-Cafe has been a mainstay in historic Old Strathcona for over ten years. We are located on the north side of Whyte Avenue, in the lower level of the Garneau Building which is formerly known as Saint Joseph's hospital. Initially started as a bakery-cafe, our family-run business has evolved into a premier breakfast, lunch and brunch destination in the area. The menu, which includes freshly-baked Artisan breads, offers North American and regional ethnic fare that is sure to satisfy small or large appetites alike. We offer a large selection of specialty desserts which are a great way to finish your meal or are enjoyable combined with something from our coffee bar as an evening treat. Either to delight in a cappuccino or sip a glass of wine, our relaxing, European-style atmosphere makes Artisan Resto-Cafe a great place to start or end your day.

We were excited to try this place as it was an artisan bakery just around the corner from my daughters new place. We both ordered hash browns with mushroom, onion & asparagus. The hash browns were barely warm and they were extremely dry. The asparagus was over cooked and somehow a chunk of bacon ended up in the mix (for... More

Went here for a late breakfast with my girlfriend. I ordered the eggs Benedict and mixed berry crepes. The eggs were decent at best and the crepes were awful, they seemed like they were premade or came from frozen. Needless to say I expected much more from a place calling themselves the artisan bakery. My girlfriend ordered a monte cristo... More

I recently visited the Artisan cafe for breakfast with friends. There was something for everyone, vegetarians included. The atmosphere is quaint, kind of artsy. Food was average, but no complaints. Conveniently located on Whyte just steps away from great shopping.

We visited here for the first time on September 13 for brunch. There was lots to choose from and quite a variety. I had the classic eggs benedict (there were several different ones). Came with two eggs, fruit and hasbrowns. I was so full after this meal! Others at our table had omelets and waffles, nothing to complain about. Service... More

This is the second time we've had breakfast here and we enjoyed the food. When we entered, the waitress asked us to sit at a clean table as she was by herself. There were a couple of nice table by the window that we would have liked to sit at, but we reluctantly complied with her request. Another couple took... More

Was good...I will go back. Food was out quickly and was tasty. Servers were great and price was up there but nothing major.

Even though the food especially the bison burger and vegetable soup was tasty and hot, it was spoilt by the absolutely terrible service. It took 40 minutes after we ordered to get our food plus others near us seated after us got their food before us. When you are hungry that is more than irritating. We did not tip as... More

The is a well located, attractive café with a reasonably priced and varied menu. Our server was attentive, though she was handling the whole café on her own. The food, when it came was well prepared and modestly presented and did not have a fast foot appearance. Both the salmon "burger" and veggie casserole were tasty and relatively fresh and... More

Stopped by for a breakfast and was pleasantly surprised. Service was great, eggs benny were good, and the Cappuccino was awesome! Sit was steamed a little on the hot side. They had no problem substituting gluten free bread. Also was happy to give directions to another coffee house up the street! Very helpful! Will return to try other items in... More

Okay - I am a coupon queen. But sometimes you can find new experiences or places to call your own with an opportunity to save some dollars initially. We tried dinner there Saturday night. Six people on the patio - three already finished. And no one inside - should have been a clue.Service SLOW! We ordered drinks and they arrived... More
