A hidden gem

Had a great evening here with my girlfriend and her father. The food and service were both fantastic. Highly recommend this hidden gem of a restaurant.

The restaurant is small and cozy located in the Bonnydoon area. we started with a appetizer a morsel of pork belly, which was very good and steak tartar which is not my favorite. The next appetizer was the tuna, lightly seared but more like sashimi. It was okay I would not order again. My wife had the soup which was... More

Overated... the food was fine but the atmosphere and service left much to be desired. The restaurant is small and needs to be updated. It would be a poor choice for a romatic dinner as you may as well be sitting at the same table as the people next to you. The server was pompous. When my wife asked if... More

Very plain menu - appetizer choices were boring - and I could not cut my meat - the 3 or so wads of chewed meat I had to leave on the side of my plate, and the rest of the meat that I could not cut through seem to be perfectly normal / acceptable when I explained to the server... More

The ambiance of a nice cozy little restaurant, excellent service, and the best chefs ever! No matter what entree we have ordered over the years we have never been disappointed. Creative cooking...the menu is somewhat limited, but I think the focus is there for the best of meals presented!

We had a wonderful date night here, and I felt so fortunate to experience the Red Ox again. My dad used to bring me here in high school, and it had been many years since I had been. They have updated the decor, but it is still tiny and beautiful and very charming. The food is unbelievable wonderful, and I... More

Red Ox definitely was a treat for the palate. Don't expect typical flavours and easy choices. It is the kind of place that makes you say "hmmmm, that sounds exciting". Servers are knowledgeable and kind - willing to give you a great recommendation and wine pairing. Overall, it's a fun experience and gives you a unique tasting experience.

Red ox inn is a unique spot in Edmonton that offers an array of delicious dishes. At my last visit I tried the Mac and cheese to start and the sirloin as my main. Both were done beautifully and like I've never had before. My only complaint (besides the fact the place was a tad chilly) was that due to... More

We had occasion to be in Edmonton recently and made reservations in advance to have dinner at the Red Ox Inn, an old favourite...it did not disappoint. We had lovely service and wonderful food. We had the duck, the lamb and the chicken washed down with a lovely Volnay which was preceded by the spaetzle, the roasted beet salad and... More
