A little bit different

I have visited Barb and Ernies for breakfast for years and loved it. Our last visit was yummy, they make awesome eggs Benedict. Homemade hollandaise, eggs cooked perfectly every time. I have visited Barb and Ernies for breakfast for years and loved it. Our last visit was yummy, they make awesome eggs Benedict. Homemade hollandaise, eggs cooked perfectly every time. I was a bit disappointed in the hashbrowns this time and I usually love them. They were a mixture of very crispy overdone pieces and undercooked pieces. Pancakes and crepes... More

We had heard that Barb and Ernie's was a popular place for breakfast, so expected a wait for a table when we went on a Sunday morning. In fact the wait was only about 10 minutes. The restaurant in a somewhat industrial part of Edmonton. The atmosphere was very casual, and it looked like a number of the customers were... More

Well, I drove by so many times and never thought of giving it a try; this time we're glad we did; everything is 100% homemade and finally HAD some European taste I remember so well, just like back in my childhood when grandma would cook. It just happened to be there for the buffet, but German sausages and schnitzels, red... More

Had my first breakfast at Barb & Ernie's in years (had been about 8 years ago once), and it was delicious as I remember it. Very reasonably priced, huge portions (I had a regular benny and it fed me for two meals) and friendly staff. Decor a bit outdated but it adds to the charm of the quaint little place.... More

This was my first-ever visit to this restaurant having seen it many times in driving past over the last 20 years ! It was all that I had expected it to be based on what I had heard from friends and read on reviews. I loved the dated, quirky décor - outside and in - and the quiet casual atmosphere.... More

Just had a Sunday morning outing and thought we would come to Barb & Ernies for a treat. Unfortunately, wasn't much of a treat. Hubby had the meat breakfast. Sausage was so so , bacon crispy which is fine, and ham was ok. Hash browns not hot. I had ordered the schnitzel breakfast. Was very disappointed. We had a view... More

My daughter has always raved about the food and friendly atmosphere at Barb & Ernie's. I had decided to go there once by myself a few years ago and enjoyed my brunch (can't remember what I ordered). It was crowded but you felt like part of a big family. There was a TV playing video's of vacations Barb & Ernie... More

Short wait to get seated. Ordered eggs Benedict with bratwurst. Everything was rushed because they were busy. Showed up a sloppy mess, eggs fallen off English muffin, undercooked brat like barley warm in the middle. Hollandaise was good and sausage flavor not bad. The home made mustard and curry ketchup was the best part of my meal. Overall not good,... More

I try to have brunch here with my sons every time I visit Edmonton. The food is consistently good with generous, well prepared breakfast meals. The service is good and the owners are usually there to maintain the high standards. The place is hopping every time I attend which is testimony to their maintenance of food and service quality. The... More

First time there last night. Heard so many great things about the place we thought we would try it. Walked in and was asked if we has reservations. We didn't but he said no problem it will be about a 15 minute wait. I thought to myself it must be a great place if reservations are needed to garuntee a... More
