This place is wonderful . Great family run biz the old fashion way . Everyone needs to try the Eggs Benny . They are by far the best in the city . Most times there is a line up . It moves fast and is worth the wait . Just go and taste the real food .

Barb and Ernie's Old Country Inn has been an institution in south Edmonton since the 1970's. It has always been a very popular lunch stop for the light industry crowd that work nearby and although it is still in need of a good facelift there have been some positive improvement in the quality of food. The restaurant management has been... More

Have been here several times over the years. Always busy on the weekends, but worth the wait. Has not changed much since it opened in 1975, but now Barb and Ernie have passed the german restaurant on to their son, and it looks like it is in good hands. Schnitzel was great as an addition to my crepes and eggs... More

We've been meaning to go for a while now. Finally enjoyed breakfast/brunch this morning at this Edmonton institution. The eggs benedict was indeed one of the best I've had. Perfectly poached egg and tasty Hollandaise sauce. The serving sizes are generous! Service was friendly. Will try to go back next time I'm really hungry!

Went there for breakfast. The omelettes we had were good - but there was NOTHING German about the food. It was ok. But still it was a weird cobo of an omelette with melon and a quarter of an orange. I am from Germany - and I can tell that the place would be shut down in Germany - for... More

I went here for brunch and I got the platter ($18) with schnitzel and eggs/toast/hash browns/fruit. It was a huge dinner-sized portion but was yummy. My dining partner got the same platter but with sausage instead of schnitzel. The house-made mustards on the side were a nice touch but individual servings (not jars that go between tables, yuck) would have... More

Driven by this place for years it's always busy with a wait to get in so I finally said let's go. We read all the reviews and sounded great well let me tell you yes the servers are friendly there is a wait due to the underwhelming size of the dining area in comparison to the building and the big... Driving down 99th one could pass this building without giving much thought to it. The sign advertising German Buffet Tuesday Night 4-7 captured my attention and, once we finally got back there, we were completely hooked. Well worth the drive from Red Deer, their buffet generally features a meat dish, a schnitzel dish, a sausage dish, Spaetzle, vegetables, sauerkraut, red... More

We went here on a Friday evening for dinner to try something new. We had a wonderful time. The server was amazing, and eager to share knowledge of German beers. I ended up trying a new one, and now have a new favourite. The food was excellent and there was a LOT of it. We ended up taking enough home... More

Wow!!! I was absolutely impressed. Last time we were here (in summer) we decided we wouldn't do this again. We went with friends and were very impressed. My cordon bleu (no cabbage but double potatoes!) was very good. Food was hot, potToes were riced which was such a lovely change. Others ordered the special which was a sausage and schnitzel... More
