Do you come to a restaurant to avoid cooking for yourself? Come to be seen? Come for the décor? Don't come here. This restaurant is for the people who want to eat the best traditional Thai food available for sale today, and who are willing to wait a little while and overlook the décor to do it. This is for... I have eaten here numerous times over the years, and always enjoyed it. It had been several years since my last visit when we decided to go last night. The food was as good as I remembered it being. We had chicken satay appetizers (4 pieces, $9). They came quickly and the peanut sauce with them was fantastic. The rest... More

We live on the opposite side of the city from Ban Thai but find ourselves driving by weekly in winter on way to our son's Hockey. Tonight I made a reservation for my Wife's Birthday (on way to Hockey ) The restaurant was alive with happy banter from a 1/2 dozen tables filled with cheerful customers, despite the -32 C... More

Don't go here if you want to eat in a timely fashion and hate eating in an unclean, severely dusty restaurant. I don't think any of the fake plants have been cleaned in months. Everything was dirty and the furniture is old and has seen better days. We ordered our food and waited 45 minutes to get our appetizer. Pick... More

Having been a customer of the Ban Thai for many years, I kept hoping that they would get their act together and provide at least reasonable service to their dine in customers. Not any more, my last visit was a disaster. We arrived as soon as the restaurant opened, being the first customers in and telling the owner that we... More

A couple of previous reviewers mentioned that the restaurant was quite dirty. I am extremely picky, and did not find the restaurant dirty at all. Old – yes, dirty – no. Some people will complain about anything. We went at 5:30 on a Wednesday, hoping that it wouldn't be too busy and service wouldn't be an issue like it has... More

My son took us out for dinner on Saturday night. When we drove up to the restaurant I thought, "Hmmm, it looks kinda tired!" It would certainly help business to re-do the window awnings and sign! I haven't been exposed much to 'authentic' Thai food and this was a great introduction! We ordered the combination dinner for four and took... More

This was a favorite place of ours (my wife and I) a decade ago, when we lived in the area. Of the very good Thai places in Edmonton, this was consistantly in the top 2 or 3, back then. It's never been a great place to dine in... located in a strip mall with all windows facing West (so the... More

One night on a business trip my colleague wanted Thai food. We did a search of the area and found good reviews for Ban Thai, so off we went. We were the only ones eating there that evening (early in the week), but there was a fair amount of takeout traffic. The menu isn't huge, but has a good selection... More

We enjoyed the green chicken curry (very spice and hot), Tom Yum soup, and curried fish dish. The food was delivered hot and on-time. We will definitely be back.
