The atmosphere of this place is exactly what you want if you want a cabin ... outdoorsy feel. I love this place in summer, winter and fall. The best place to take guests to give them a feel of being in the mountains without making the drive. There is a small walk to the island over a bridge so I... More

We went on a busy day and were disappointed that they had little choice, no gluten free options and a difficult menu at lunch for food allergies. The lunch was okay, but charcuterie is bigger and better at other restaurants

As someone who lives in Calgary, I eat here for most special occasions (anniversary, birthdays, etc). Its not cheap, but the combination of good fine, wine, service, setting make it one of the nicest restaurants in Calgary. It's on an island, a short walk from the Eau Claire Market, where you can park underground for $2 evenings and weekends.

The food at the River Café is always good along with the service. I prefer to go in the evening when the trail to the restaurant is lit up from the bridge crossing the Bow River to the doors of the restaurant. It's set in a lovely area that adds to the ambiance of the restaurant.

We went here for our Xmas lunch with a group of 14 people. The set meal including dessert was excellent. This was the second year in running we were here and will most likely repeat it this year. There is even skating on the river supervised by the City of Calgary park staff within meters of this restaurant. The patio... More

I've been going to this restaurant since it opened twenty years ago and it's always a treat. With a premise of local and fresh ingredients, and a creative chef, the menu is always inspirational. Reservations are recommended, and if a nice day you may get a coveted table outdoors. Be sure to find out where to park for easy access... More

My husband and I had our wedding there September 2012 and our 50 friends and family couldn't believe what a wonderful day and evening that River Café put together for us. We go back every year in September and when we have guests in town, it is our "go to place". Amazing ambiance without being pretentious, savour every morsel of... More

I went with an old friend, we walked over the small bridge on the Bow River and headed to this lovely restaurant, where we had a chance to eat delicious food, and visit. The setting and service and food were excellent. Afterwards we walked along the shore in a leisurely fashion and back to our cars, parked downtown.

The service is poor and the food is overpriced; practically you pay the view, but you can also have that from the benches and pic-nick area just next to the restaurant.
