Good

Good Irish food. The shepherds pie is ground beef not lamb but everything else seemed authentic. Our food was delicious. Price was good and we had great service. We sat outside on a beautiful nite. The street has many restaurants and shops. Fun to walk thru.

Our first visit to Calgary Stampede, ended with an evening along 8th Avenue in downtown Calgary, enjoying draft, Fish N’ Chips and Bangers and Mash at the James Joyce. The staff was friendly and helpful. We sat on the patio and watched the Stampede fashions walk by. The food was excellent and it really was a lovely way to round... More

We went to eat there for lunch and take refuge from a rainy day in Calgary. The kids were excited to try Irish pub food. A waitress started to seat us, but then the hostess came out and said children under 12 were not allowed. Back out into the rain we went. Later, my Calgary friends told me that after... More

The James Joyce Irish Pub is a great restaurant and authentic Irish pub. The food was delicious. Our server was an Irish lass from Tipperary. The service was excellent. Definitely one of the highlights of our time in Calgary.

Had a great dinner with friends in this lovely little venue. Great ambience, great little booths making it perfect for quiet dinners with good conversation. The food is excellent and the service friendly and efficient.

Every time we come to Calgary we make a point of stopping here. The service is always good with a very good selection of beverages. One of the only places I've stumbled upon that serves my favorite beer - Innis and Gunn on tap. The food is incredible with a fair price.

I went to the James Joyce for Lunch. I have eaten at all of the other local establishments. My opinion is this and that is I was charged a fine dining price for a pint of Guiness and received dry and nearly burnt beer battered fish and chips. This is nothing more than a tourist trap with a patio on... More

At the recommendation of our concierge we visited the pub. We had the daily soup "Mushroom Whisky"... Delicious! And they had a Fried Chicken with kale sandwich.... Not what I normally would order, but the perky Irish Lass, red headed and all suggested... So why not??? It was perfect!!! Beer was good... Whiskey Coffee even better.

The food at the Joyce is better than the usual pub food - lots of variety and nicely prepared. Our server was a charming young woman from Ireland. She was attentive and friendly. Good choice of wines and beers, plus other alcoholic beverages. The patio is small but it's on the sunny side of 8th Avenue. There are umbrellas for... More
