We attended an event at this pub. They put on a great authentic Irish carvery complete with roasted ham. The staff are wonderful and looked after everyone very well.

Little family run bar in downtown Calgary. We ate here (lunch one day, dinner another) and drank here a couple of times. Food is very good, however the beef burger that i had as dinner one evening was a little on the dry side. But did manage to eat it. Wouldnt stop me from coming back though.

We had dinner on a Friday evening at the James Joyce. The atmosphere was very "publish"- the decor is cozy with lots of wood, the patrons are a bit noisy, everyone feels at ease. The food was very good, and served by a very cheerful waitress. They have the basics- shepherd's pie, stew, along with many other non-Irish choices. Everything... More

Lovely friendly pub, quaint interior and good service. The lunch was good pub grub; ploughman's with hot bread and excellent curry sauce with the above average fish and chips. Would go back!

We found this restaurant by just walking around and looking for a place to eat. Liked the menu, and the prices seemed to be better than other restaurants in the area. (We were all from the States and accustomed to lower prices.) The food was very good, and we were pleased with the prices. Service was good, also.

The draft price was absent from the drink menu. Maybe this was because the prices are considerably higher than other near by establishments. They also surprise you with up charges for select side dishes. Gluten free burger was tasty with a soft bun. The guiness stew was hearty and tasty too.

After a bad experience with another restaurant in the area, we were delighted to find that this "Irish Pub" had good food, a varied selection of food and drink, and excellent service. The walls are covered with quotes from Irish authors, the atmosphere is cozy but not dark, and the service was quick but unhurried. We will go back next... More

Let's get one thing straight, this is not a traditional Irish pub. It is an Irish style pub, which describes most of the "Irish pubs" in Canada and the US. So, if you think this will be like walking into a pub in Dublin - get that thought out of your head. With that said, this is a decent Irish... More

I regularly visit James Joyce because they have one of the best Bangers and Mash in Calgary. Not sure where the sausage comes from (I am guessing Spolumbo's) but it is very tasty and slightly spicy. The dish also comes with an onion beef gravy drizzled on top of a mountain of mashed potatoes. Oh and something called vegetables. ;)... More

I really enjoyed my meal at James Joyce, as did my partner. The food is delicious and the service was pretty good. I would dine there again if I am in the mood for pub food.
