On my tour of Cow Town (Calgary) Steak restaurants, the Cattle Baron was next on my list. The outside of the building held lots of promise - very rustic and woodsy, but inside totally lacked character and ambience - no charm, nothing like what you would think of a dining room of an actual cattle Baron to be. It wasn't... More

Great service in Restaurant and bar. Tried the Rib Eye, Prime rib and New York cut. All were great, I can highly recommend. A busy place, so it must be good. Business friends thought it was good too. A short walk from a lot of good accommodation.

Been to this restaurant twice and both times we were very impressed. It is on the short list of really good places to eat in Calgary for me.

We were staying at the Sheraton and it was suggested by the staff that we try "Cattle Baron" we checked out the reviews on trip advisor and decided that it was worth a shot! I can not be more happy that we did! We were only staying in Calgary for a night before making our way to Banff. It was... More

Service. or lack thereof, ensured that although 2 out of 6 of us had not-bad food ( a bit overpriced though)...it had two of my companions eating cold dinners due to waiting for condiments AND One other steak went to the wrong person - so they took it away from him and tossed it in the garbage - ensuring both... This was my first visit and I hope it is not my last. The atmosphere is casually elegant and the service is top notch. We started with the Chili Chicken appetizer. i could eat that dish forever. The chicken was properly spiced, the wantons were perfectly crisped and the chili sauce was one of the best I have ever had.... More

An upscale restaurant, but very casual. I ate at the bar. Several TVs. Had Caesar salad & rib eye sandwich. Both excellent. Bit pricey, but worth it. Good selection of draft beers & wine by glass.

John was our waiter and he gave us exemplary service and is extremely personable. I had the NY strip. It was very good but not a gee whiz outstanding steak. What was outstanding: the rib tip appetizer. Wow. Tons of great flavor. The desert of apple and ice cream pastry puff...oh yeah baby. Great wine selections. Onion rings are pretty... More
