Description: Bookers BBQ + Crab Shack brings an authentic Southern atmosphere to Calgary with a comfortable, upbeat dining and drinking experience. Located in a century-old brick warehouse, Bookers is a hidden gem at the gateway to Calgary’s East Village. Seasoned BBQ chefs slow smoke over 200 lbs of Alberta chicken, beef, and pork every day and serve it alongside fresh seafood, local produce, signature cocktails, and original, house made sauces and rubs. Bookers is Calgary’s oldest BBQ institution where freedom and fun are ingrained in the culture, kitchen and guest experience.

Bookers seems to be a bit of a Cowtown institution - interesting location, if nothing else. It appears to be be a good place for music, beer and letting the good times roll although we were there perhaps a bit early for the wildlife to be out. Looking at the menu is just like being down South - but, there... More

Four of us met for drinks and dinner on a freezing Calgary night. Service was so slow we had to ask another waitress to find ours - she told us she forgot we were there! My catfish was a minnow - the smallest fillet I have ever seen. My wife's ribs were fatty - like they had not been smoked... More

I love Cajun food, and was looking forward to seeing this place. Our waitress was fairly grumpy. The cocktails were decent. The Bbq platter with pulled pork, chicken crab, cole slaw, shrimps and fries were tasteless. The dessert (pineapple rum cake) was better. The bar looked very cool and there is a small patio outside.

Went for the brisket but they were sold out by the time we arrived at about 7.30 on a Friday evening. It was not very busy so we were somewhat surprised about that. Our group of three had ribs, two of us,and 1/4 BBQ chicken. The chicken seemed to be more spicy than BBQ flavour but was OK. The ribs were... More

How does this place stay in business? All the meats were overcooked and dried out. The sides were cold and tasted no better than something out of a can. The crab cakes in particular were just plain disgusting. Were they frozen and deep fried for too long in cold oil? Let's not even start on the lack of service. The... More

We went to this place with our friends on a 6:30 p.m. reservation. Well by 7:50 we received our appetizers , cold , the server puts it down and disappears , so I get up from the booth get her and ask " could we please get some utensils " she repeats " don't you have some " what did... More

Me and my boyfriend decided to have lunch here and ended up regretting our decision. We ordered the crab bucket which is around $16.00 and you get around 6 skinny legs with barely any meat in them (you can buy a nice bag of juicy meaty claws from walmart for $23.00 I'm just saying...) the crab chowder was horrendous I... I still don't understand how people are raving and ranting about this place. My first attempts trying going to this place didn't end up so well. The first time we were turned away because we didn't have a reservation and it was pretty busy that night. However, the second time it was barely that busy and we were still turned... More

Our Canadian friends booked a table. We would never have ventured in as there are no clues on the outside of the building as to what delights await inside. We had calamari and deep fried pickles to start and jambalaya, blue crab and yam fries, prawn, vegetables and crab for mains. The food was delicious. Our server was excellent and... More

We got to the restaurant at 5:15pm. The place was completely empty except 1 table. We were asked if we had reservations and when we told her no she advised that they were totally booked up (even tho the place was totally empty).. but there was 1 table available if we could leave by 8.. Yes. That would be fine.... More
