It was OK

We visited Bookers on a week night. Parking seemed to be an issue... but maybe I just didn't know where to park. The place was pretty much empty. We had a larger group so they sat us up at a long table, which was great! But serviced lacked a bit. When the waitress finally came around to us we... read more

We went as part of Calgary's Foodie Fest and ordered from the Foodie Fest menu and tried the ribs and beef brisket. The service was friendly and prompt with drinks. The meal included crab chowder, meat, baked beans, coleslaw, and mashed potatoes. The beef brisket was done correctly, but my disappointment lies in the flavor. My mother ate hers entirely,... More

I've read the other reviews and I can't help but wonder if the negative feedback might be different if their expectations going in were different. My advice for anyone wanting to make sure they have as great a time as I did is to think of Bookers as a Bar with Amazing food. Leave your kids at home. I love... More

Now I'll preface this by saying I've eaten BBQ in Texas, and I BBQ at home too. So take it as a picky review ... I know what Burnt Ends are supposed to be like, and this place most certainly does NOT have them. They have brisket nuggets though! And some of them are cooked well, but overall, I should... More

My son and daughter-in-law invited my husband, daughter and I to join them at Booker's to celebrate my daughter-in-laws mothers birthday. Upon arrival, there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke. The decor was very nice. The music was great. The food, with the exception of the crab legs was awful. The mac & cheese was soupy and tasteless, the... More

We went for the unlimited ribs and crab on a Monday night... made reservations 2 adults 2 kids... 7:30 was the only time they had available but we were seated right away... could they be any more obvious that they did not want us there with kids? Worst booth halfway in the kitchen and the staff even had their jackets... More

We had always wondered about Booker's after passing by it every time we drove into downtown. When I saw a deal offered for a dinner for two, I bought one but was unable to use it before it expired. No problem (I thought) because the Terms and Conditions of the contract stated that the Merchant would honour the base value of... We went for Super Bowl Sunday to watch the game, and made a reservation a few days prior as the place would be packed. There isn't much parking out front but there is another parking lot in the back. From the outside it almost looks like a dive but once we got inside, we quickly agreed it was nothing like... More

Its been about a dozen years since I first ate here (now living out of town) so the family get together for dinner satisfied the seafood and meat lovers both. The restaurant has changed, I'd say for the better, nice atmosphere and you're greeted by the heavenly scent of wood smoke, not stale beer! Service was attentive and the food... More

My girlfriend threw me a birthday party but Bookers messed up the reservation - so I found out and that was how it ruined the surprise... Food was ok...hit and miss really. We ordered the platter which comes with several types of crabs. When the waitress brought us the platter she then informed some of us that a particular crab... More
