Sorry peoples. I'm from Québec, that's make me a professional POUTINE judge. soggy fries. burned BEEF gravy ( Everybody knows a poutine gravy is make from CHICKEN BROTH) Cheese if it's cheese , is far away from what is supposed to be. First time I went with four (other professional) friends we all add a bad experience. - Order...4 orders... More

I have been to the Big Cheese many times and quite enjoy it. I encourage anyone visiting Calgary to give this a try, as it really is a taste of Canadian cuisine. Outside of Quebec this is one of the better poutines you will find in Canada.

What is there to say about The Big Cheese. Its a poutinerie. That glorious Quebecois creation of fries, cheese curds, and gravy. But The Big Cheese does it a little different. They offer the Traditional poutine, but they also have a full menu of different variations, some with beef, some with chicken, some with pork, and one that comes with... More

I needed something else to have Sunday when most of the core was closed, and we were unable to get into Smoke's (which I hadn't been to either) and needed some sort of poutine to get through my miserable shift. Well, I was let down. I've never seen a poutine take so long. Did they have to generate their own... More

Shared a poutine with smoked meat on it and was not impressed with much of its toppings. Sauce was okish but could have been more generous on the cheese and meat. For a large poutine it was kind of small.

I was looking forward to having some poutine. A rare treat. I think the fried and gravy were good, but it was hard to taste because I found it too spicy. I ordered the standard, original vegetarian poutine but it looked like they put chilli flakes on it. Probably ok for most people, but way too spicy for me. I... More

Whilst I love fine dining, and cooking with fresh ingredients, some days you just have to give into a lunchtime craving for something naughty...and poutine fits that role nicely. Many think that poutine is a simple thing and it's just 'fries with gravy and cheese' and while I guess it that's correct there are definitely places you can get a... More

Great place for poutine. Went here with family of 5 adults with 3 of us over from the uk and told we must try poutine. Great service vast choice of toppings. Spent ages choosing. One thing if you have the vegetarian you get spicy gravy. The large size is very filling. Definitely have to try this place if you are... More

There is nothing wrong about their traditional poutine. The fries are perfectly cut and fried to be exactly the right amount of crispy. I typically detest gravy, but the stuff on these amazing fries didn't make me cringe--quite the opposite. And, well, I always welcome cheese on anything, so there's that. Even when I ate this decadent dish slowly, the... More

My recent trip to the Canadian Rockies resulted in not only discovering some of the most beautiful views in the world, but also my first taste of Poutine. As an American, we have pizza fries--which are nothing compared to his wondrous Canadian dish. I looked up the history of Poutine, and one of the articles stated, "Usually found in dives"--so...
