Pleasantly Surprised

We were staying in downtown Calgary and not much was open for Sunday night dinner so we decided to go to Charcut. We reviewed the menu online and nothing really caught my eye. I wasn't sure I really wanted a big chunk of meat for dinner but it was close so we went. I have to say, I was... read more

Great food, service and drinks. We ate there twice during our visit. The steak was so good, as was the bison and the fish.

OK, we went here for my husband's birthday and had the famous Alley Burger. It is delicious. We also had truffle poutine, which is to die for. The food was amazing and the place is packed! Be forewarned, it is a little pricey, but worth it for a special occasion.

Went here with my wife. We had a great time here. She ordered a pasta dish which was great and I had the brisket which was one of the most amazing dishes I have ever had. We will definitely be going back for more.

I went to Calgary for a business meeting and went to Charcut for dinner with friends who live in Calgary. They told me this was one of their main restaurants to eat at. Coming from Toronto where we have a ton of restaurants that serve charcuterie, I frankly wasn't overly impressed with the large charcuterie board - most of the... More

Charcut, as everyone has already mentioned here is owned by two great chefs - John Jackson and Connie DeSousa. They also have been training and consequently produced two chefs who became winners in Chopped Canada - chefs Jessica Pelland and Chef Brodie Ashton. They work with local farmers/producers and this was one of the reasons why their restaurant is popular.... More

Recently in Calgary for a business trip scoping out locations for a conference. I was taken here by a local connection and told that it was one of the highest rated places in town. I had actually heard of Chef Connie having watched her as a finalist on the Top Chef's Canada TV show a year or so ago so... More

We are fairly well travelled and heard great things about owner chef Connie. The Restaurant is extremely busy but also extremely noisy. The Bison Brisket was a great disappointment. It was the most expensive item on the menu and I expected to be wow'd. Guess what no wow factor. 4 slivers of dry flavourless brisket with polenta (yuk!!!!). Not my... More

Arriving back from a late meeting, decided to grab dinner in the hotel restaurant and were treated to exceptional service in a nice atmosphere with pretty good food. With this said, it certainly isn't an establishment that we would be racing back to or was memorable in any fashion: simply put, a decent hotel restaurant if in need.
