Busy pub, with nice atmosphere. Server was friendly and efficient. Food was everything you would expect from pub grub, tasty and filling and good accompaniment to a reasonable range of beers.

Made a reservation for Christmas dinner for 4:00 pm. On arrival the waitress had no idea anyone had made a reservation. Next we were told that the Christmas menu was being printed off as we speak. Then the waitress came to inform us that Christmas dinner would not be ready for at least another hour. When it finally arrived it... More

My poutine was just fine. My daughters burger was a little dry. Husband enjoyed beer selection and steak sandwich. Lamb stew was thick and hearty. Good place to wet your whistle.

The Guinness is poured how it should be and you can tell they must take care of their taps as the taste is similar to that in Ireland. Atmosphere is lovely and the place always seems busy. The pub food I have tried is above average for a pub and the service is of quality.

I wish I could put it in clear words, why my wife and I never returned to the " St. James " for a second visit.Maybe the cozy Irish-Pub-Feeling was not there, because of the large size of the restaurant. But the enormous bar looked authentic and inviting. We were lead to a rather dark room in the back, where,as my wife joked, all the old... Apparently all their food has MSG according to the "chef" so was relegated to a piece of overcooked dry salmon & potato mash that must surely have come out of a bag & super greasy veg. When I mentioned how awful the meal was just a pitiful sorry & nary a discount. My partner's fish & chips was very boney-... More

Every time we go to Banff we eat our first dinner at this pub and it never disappoints. Great service, good fresh food, great atmosphere, good value. We go as a couple or with our adult children and their partners, and every one finds something to be happy! Even desserts are good. We like the Liver and onion but the... More

Great value food and service. Love it. We kept coming back for the $9 Irish fare meals on a Thursday night.

A lovely Irish Pub, great atmosphere, and nice staff. Once we ordered our food, it was brought to us in record time! The beer battered cod 'n' chips were excellent, but my shepherd's pie fell short. For some reason it tasted a bit like an old male goat rather than lamb, but the mashed potato topping was delish, and the... More
