This was our first stop in Banff after a long day of travel. I really like the atmosphere of the place - I felt as if I were actually in Ireland. The server was very friendly. We had the shepherd's pie and the fish and chips, and both were very good. This is a great place to have a relaxing,... More

On Thursday night, they have $9 specials. There are about 8 items to choose from such as Shepards pie, fish and chips, beef liver and onions, chicken pot pie, etc. the portions were large. They don't have unsweetened iced tea. I would highly recommend visiting this establishment.

Had a nice evening meal. The server was friendly and helpful. The menu seemed fine but lacked some unique items. The choice of tap beer was better than several other locations.

One of the best places to eat in Banff! On vacation with our daughter we ate there twice. Would recommend the fish and chips, Shepherd's Pie and Chicken Pot Pie. Also had stuffed Yorkies one night which were delicious. Be prepared to wait for seating and food as they are very busy but it's worth the wait. Staff was great.

This is the best spot in Banff for casual dining. It has a very authentic Irish pub feel and the food is excellent. I've long said the Sheppard's Pie is the best ever (including in Ireland), but I also would highly recommend the chicken pot pie and the mac and cheese. The waitresses are very friendly and efficient. Definitely our... More

We loved the Shepherd's Pie. There were two guys playing music that evening. We loved the atmosphere of this restaurant.

Great pub atmosphere with good grub and the Guiness is very good. Waitress was a little bit tired of people, but everything went fine. We loved our mac and cheese and potato pancakes! Saw a lot of good looking meals go by our table.

We wanted a relaxing, pub style dinner and the valet from our hotel recommended The St. James Gate. Great atmosphere, really good bison burger. There was good live music. Enjoyable!

We fancied a straightforward meal so chose St James Gate. Drinks order. I'll have a Guinness please. Sorry no Guinness. Ok I'll have a Stella . Sorry no Stella. I felt like I was in Monty Pythons cheese shop sketch. Food:- both of us ordered the Salmon. After all its a BC speciality. They couldn't get that wrong. Well they... More

Had lunch mid week. Enjoyed fish and chips - very tasty. Also had some beef barley soup which was good. Friend had the burger which he said was very good and filling. Staff was friendly. Service was a little slow but there was a very large group right next to us that was taking a lot of time. I would... More
