Good Gut Warming Comfort Food

St. James is a traditional Irish Pub Through and Through. We had bangers and mach, shepard's pie, and guiness and steak stew. Everything was delicious. Service was prompt and it was a good casual atmosphere (we went directly from the mountain in ski gear). The prices were also extremely... read more

I can't visit Banff without visiting the St James Gate Irish Pub! They always have excellent entertainment (which is one of the reasons I love it so much). The food is great as well. The menu includes a lot of typical pub fare. The beer selection is also pretty good. I've mostly received excellent service here in the past however... More

I went there a few times on my vacation. this seems to be more of a local spot with live music. Very friendly bar staff. They will get you whatever you need. even if they need to use some engineering skills ( building a long straw to drink water from a pitcher). Great people! Made my vacation

What and great restaurant bar. The beer choice was good, the food was excellent and the atmosphere was awsome. It would be hard not to find me here on a Friday and Saturday night if I lived in Banff.

We went there on our first day for drinks and I ask for Parrot Bay and they had never heard of it before which is fine. I ordered a rum and coke and they were the tiniest glasses at a high price. Service was good that day. Then we went on St.patricks day once it started to die down a... More

Spent lunch in the St.James and everything was fantastic. Great Meal. Great server. A must visit in Banff. One of the best pub visits in a while. Lunch was great and the desert, sticky toffee pudding, what Amazing. You have to try this desert. I will see you again soon in May. I plan on bringing some family to Banff... More

Hit this place a couple times while in Banff the last week. This place is one of my favourites. Decent food, decent beer selection, average prices. Nothing outstanding but nothing bad either. Great atmosphere, decent service, live music some nights. Very easy to recommend.

My wife and I took our son and his girlfriend for dinks before heading out for dinner. Had we known how good the food was we would have stayed for dinner. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is very welcoming. Our sons girlfriend being British suggested that we try the stuffed yorkies and they were great. All in... More

Food was real good but the thing is they serve Guinness. If you like a pint of beer with some great food stop in lunch or dinner. It was real busy and service was a tad slow but the servers are doing there best, I'd go again!

The food is amazing..I suggest the Mac and cheese :) :) It got pretty busy so the service was a bit slow, but you forget about that once you start eating their food. They had awesome live music and a good atmosphere.
