Good Beer selection

But poor wine selection and no BC wines at all. Food - best is the Guinness Pot Pie. Fish and chips surprisingly good and Shepherds Pie a disappointment - dry and tasteless.

Dropped in for a quick meal (with great winter ale) and ended up sharing plates of appetizers - wings, sweet potato fries and STUFFED YORKIES! We have been trying to figure out how to make these little treasures ever since.... If these plates are any indication of the rest of the menu - let me work my way through the... More

Just happened to go on a Thur night and it was Irish night. Special menu of Irish entrees for $9 each (about half price) and $1 off Irish pints. I loved the Guinness and steak stew and wife enjoyed fish and chips. Wonderful authentic décor and friendly service. Our bill was so low, I had to give her a 35%... More

Came in for lunch on a lazy Monday, the decor was great as was the great food. Started with the Guinness Crab and Asparagus soup, which was good but not great. The fish and chips on the other hand were beyond great, I will be heading back here on my next trip to Banff.

Came here with my sister and mom for dinner after spending the day in Banff, and we left very full! We had to wait about 10 minutes for a table as the resataurant was packed full, but it was worth the wait. You can definitely tell they take pride in the 'low and slow' method of cooking, because the stews... More

Went here during a conference in town for drinks with colleagues and was a good atmosphere. We ended up ordering food for supper and between the 6 of us all had great food but myself and one other. We each ordered nachos for a meal, it was the first time I had to eat nachos with a fork. The nachos... More

I've been in Banff for a week and went to the pub for almost every night. Good lunch for friendly prices and a nice choice of beers. Not to forget the very friendly and good looking guys behind the bar.

Visited St James Gate a few times during my stay. Lovely spot just off the main drag downtown. Food was plain but plenty of it... a varied menu. Good drinks and we found the staff very friendly and helpful. we had no problem with servicce. A good atmosphere and comfortable surroundings.

Great place to try Putine! I had the shephard's pie and it was yummy. Sat in front of a pretty fire in winter. Sticky toffee pudding dessert is the best!
