Fondue in a Canadian "Swiss Chalet"

Fun experience at the Waldhous Restaurant at the Fairmont Banff Springs. Lovely old building with a Swiss chalet atmosphere. We had the three course fondue for two. Fondue was good, not outstanding but the experience was fun! Three courses consist of cheese, beef, and chocolate fondue. Beef fondue... read more

Interesting restaurant in beautiful setting of the Banff Fairmont Hotel. Older patrons and those with a disability need to get the hotel shuttle as there are many, many steps from the hotel. Dining chairs are very low, perhaps need cushions and then it might be possible to eat comfortably and look out at the fabulous views. Food was average but... More

We enjoyed the Wiener schnitzel and salad, however, the Apple streusel was not good. It was dry Like a dry hockey puck. You would expect an attractive expensive German restaurant to serve an excellent apple strudel for a dessert option. Disappointing.

Wow. What a stunning location. Take the shuttle! This restaurant is perched in a rocky outcropping behind the Banff Springs Hotel. It is a lively Bavarian style building with the same themed menu. We thoroughly enjoyed the rich fondue. I highly recommend this and the good wines. It may have been the clean mountain air, but this was such a... More

We do not have a fine dining German restaurant anymore back home, so we wanted to try a Swiss/German place while in Banff, plus we like raclette and fondue and the latter takes care of our vegetarian daughter. For fondue, there was Ticino, the Swiss place a few doors down from our hotel or the Waldhaus. The latter seemed to... More

Best venison I have ever had. Phenomenal views. Impeccable waitstaff. Dinner was perfection. Very relaxed atmosphere. Gorgeous summer evening at a table by an open window.

We were really excited to have our group reunion from Germany dine at this noted place!!?? We were extremely DISAPPOINTED IN THE MENU--only one true German dish on the menu--several of us ordered it and it was fair!! We all lived in Germany and were very disappointed as to what we found at a five star hotel!! First review with... More

The Waldhaus was the cherry on top of our visit to Banff. Our server Megan had impeccable timing, and we could not have asked for a better table. We will remember this dining experience at the historic location forever! Our server was very informed on all of the resources for the local fare. The restaurant was busy, although our table... Do not have to be quest to eat here. Daily specials; posted in lobby at Banff Springs or at foot of stairs at Bow Falls, climb up and climb down, make sure you get timing right for daily specials so write down. Forget to add this to my earlier Rundle Mountain Lodge review. Entire mountain experience can be seen at... More

We climbed the wooden stairs to this authentic swiss chalet nestled in the woods of the Fairmont Banff historic hotel for the most authentic, romantic dining experience we could have asked for. With an open, mountain view table we delved into our authentic locally sourced dishes and had perfectly timed service. Can't wait to go back!
