History as Good as the Fare

I find the history surrounding this building as good as the fare and that was excellent. It certainly is a place to spend a few hours and enjoy some wonderful food.

This is part of two restaurants, Le Beaujolais being on the same floor, this was our first choice but as it was fully booked until 9 pm we were offer the same menu at the Bistro, staff were informative in food and drink selections and nothing was too much trouble, the food complemented the staff "excellent" a little more money... We visited the Cafe for the first time on a recent date night and had a fantastic evening! The bistro food was excellent and as a celiac I really appreciate having lots of choices on a menu and a knowledgable kitchen staff. The atmosphere is comfortable but I do question why we had to listen to the Sirius "escape" channel.... More

We were very excited to try this place out, we know that they share the kitchen with Le Beaujolais. I really wanted to like this place but couldn't. The server we had was unprofessional and did not have any knowledge of the dishes on the menu. The service was not good! The Food: We had the Escargots and they were... More

Avoid all the tourist-trap restaurants and head to this bistro. As the name suggests you can expect a lovely room overlooking the street, great service and French bistro food. We are in Banff all the time and enjoy coming here. Ask to sit in Jordan"s section and you will enjoy your meal even more! PS. This is where you should... More

This is a great little spot that we happened upon by accident while looking for a late Saturday Brunch. Perfectly poached eggs, hot and fabulous espresso, and bacon done just right. The Smoked Salmon Benny was my wife's favourite. Definitely recommended.

Cheaper than its mother restaurant, the bistro still offers a variety of French dishes. I went straight for the house specialty, steak frittes, which is AAA Alberta steak finished table side in a wine butter.  A little less magnificent than expected but it was good.  Small strip steak left in the butter in a pan over a sterno. Served with... More

We had the special of the night which included butternut squash soup, duck, profiteroles. Everything was lick your plate delicious. My husband and I both agreed it was the best duck we've ever enjoyed.

Attentive and friendly service, wide variety menu, preparation and presentation were very good. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

We ate here several times in July, August , and September, for lunch and dinner. It was a four star experience at first , but the last two times both the food and service slipped. Their signature dish was nice but not spectacular, the green salad was poorly presented. Since this is a bistro, dinner did not come with bread,... More
