Great local with good food

This lovely pub in Sway has a great atmosphere and is very obviously a proper local where regular customers and staff know each other. The menu offers a selection of pub classics as well as some more ambitious dishes. My partner opted for ham, egg and chips and I went for the wild boar burger... read more

We visited the Silver Hind for dinner on the 25th May. There were 9 of us and it was my son's 16th birthday. The Silver Hind had decorated the table, which was a very nice touch, as we hadn't ask for this. They also sorted out a fantastic chocolate birthday cake. The food was very good and the service excellent.... More

We returned with friends on Saturday night, and couldn't of not have been more impressed, the food was amazing set in a very relaxed setting. We were offered different types of homemade cooked bread before our meals arrived, (the whole meal soda bread was delicious). Quickly followed by a starters, the only thing I recall was the asparagus and goat... More

Generous portion sizes, lovely staff and amazingly tasty home cooked food. The wine list is pretty good too. A nice atmosphere and not too big. Mainly traditional British food when we were there, some dishes with a twist. The only downside I can think of is that menu changes daily (at least at weekends) and is fairly limited, which could... On the whole the experience was pretty much a let down. Slow service from the waitress who had to keep scuttling back to the kitchen to ask questions. Loud and obnoxious patrons in the bar area- one tried to put his coat on my chair when I went to the loo. Foul language and raised voices pretty much a staple... More

Went here with a friend on a Tuesday evening and had a lovely meal. The portions were massive and excellent value for money. I had a lovely vegetarian meal with a beautiful salad. One of the nicest meals I have had in a long time. My friend had the ham hock and it just fell off the bone - was... More

What a glorious find, and right on our doorstep. Superb meals with attention to every detail. Excellent choice of food, mostly local produce combines to make an unforgettable dining experience. Good choice of reasonably priced wines to complement the meal. We will be back.

We enjoyed a beautiful meal, wonderfully presented. Very happy and helpful staff despite the fact that the restaurant was very busy.

Great atmosphere, prompt service, good choice of wines and beers. A bit of banter at the bar before excellent meals produced with attention to detail right down to fresh herbs picked from the garden. As a regular visitor to the area i frequent it often as can my dogs as they are welcome in the bar area. Always greeted with... More

If you're looking for a modern, informal dining experience then the Silver Hind in the small New Forest village of Sway won't disappoint. This small country pub, which has been gentrified with a Farrow & Ball paint wash and kitted out with the now familiar quirky mix of dining tables and chairs, (you know the kind of vibe they're aiming...
